Since Safties coach Josh Conklin is going to be doing some of the play calling and actually has coordinator experience more than Sal actually. If Dooley does get retained then it is obvious he needs to fire Sal. If that scenario happens then I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to hire Josh Conklin as our D coordinator for next year and just hire a new Safties coach and linebackers coach. I think we would hurt ourselves even more trying to learn a new system and maybe with a guy who has actually called plays before then maybe we would actually see some improvement.

first off this has been posted almost word for word a few dozen times including by me. Yet you stand correct. I too believe Conklin will do a better job and we will win the day handily. just wish the move had been done earlier in the season. notwithstanding if DD makes it to next year as im believing he will, Sal needs to go and maybe Conklin in his place, or someone with actual experiance.

I think that we also need some more TN blood in here. If I'm Dooley and I get to be retained. Then I would need Dale Jones for linebackers coach who is the Defensive Coordinator at Appalachian State. and also try my damndest to get Tee Martin in here on the staff, and then just move Hinshaw back to coaching Qbs and let Chaney just call plays, and maybe you just let Ansley be the head DBs coach instead of hiring a safties coach since Conklin would still be on the staff. I also would like to fire Coiner as well our special teams other than CP sucks. I don't know who we could go after at that point.

Here is the staff I would like to see next year with Dooley coming back.

Head Coach: Dooley
Offensive Coordinator: Chaney
Quater backs coach: Hinshaw
Running backs coach: Graham
Offensive Line coach: Pittman
Wide Recievers coach: Tee Martin
Tight Ends/Special teams: T.D. Woods
Defensive Coordinator/Safteys Coach: Conklin
Defensive Backs Coach: Ansley
Inside LineBackers Coach: Dale Jones
Outside Linebackers Coach: Staley
Defensive Line Coach: Palmero

I think this would give us a few nice additions and keep stability as well, because if we completely change our scheme on defense again we will fall even further back on defense.

Conklin is a lightweight, our safties have played so well giving him more responsibilities only makes sense under our wonderful HC DD.

It is humanly impossible that Conklin can do worse.

If (IF) Sunseri is callling plays from the press box, I would expect that there will be a lot of intentional missed communication when it gets signal transformed to the field. "Sorry Sal. I thought you said massive beef on 4th and goal from the 1. I misunderstood the 'prevent' part."

Dooley will not be retained. Sorry.

The issue is not how and what he calls on Saturday. The issue is whether or not the coaching changes have improved preparation during the week. Can the players properly line up, recognize formations, and execute the game plan? They haven't yet, and that stems from coaching during the week, not play calls on Saturday? Hopefully Conklin is a better teacher than Sunseri... not a real high bar to reach IMHO...

Here is a pic of some of the players he coached on defense as a DC....

So WHEN he comes back and "IF" we have a good year, winning season, a few signature wins. Will you still be a hater. Ive gone on record as saying if we don't then I will turn to the Dark side like you have. If we do will you change your tune or continue to pontificate.

He's gotta do better, the only way it's worse is if they score EVERY single drive. At least with Sal's awesome defense we'd see the other teams punter once a game.

Is T Martin a really good coach or something? Everybody wants him to come back here a lot.

That would give us four former VOLS on the staff and I think will help boost our instate recruiting.

I have yet to see where it says anyone other than Sal will be calling the plays. The article i read indicated that Sal might be in the booth but never said he wouldn't be calling plays. I think people may be confused because someone else will have to actually signal in the plays that Sal is calling since Sal will be in the booth.

Better coverage
Better returns
Few penalties
Pretty good on fg, overall

Special teams is betters than it has been in a long time.

Individuals kicking have been so-so, but the unit is improved.

I think Dooley needs solid coordinators around him to make up for where he lacks as a coach. Ones with a lot of DC experience at the coordinator level in a big time conference. I don't think Dale Jones is type of coach but Tee Martin yes. We don't need any more experiments
