...he should be NCAA Coach of the Year.

With brilliant strategy and in-game tactics, CRB continually squeezes just enough offense from what is the best defense (KenPom) in the country.

The guys are well coached, well drilled, and disciplined. Bob Knight would love this group.

Reminds me of Reggie and the Miracles. The 1986-7 Georgetown team started 6'6" F Reggie Williams, 3 freshmen Guards and 6'4" Ralph McDonald at C. The Hoyas won the Big East Tournament, were seeded #1 and got to the Final 5, losing to Providence (HC Pitino, PG Billy Donovan) in the East Regional Final. The 86-7 team was John Thompson's best work. He would love this Tennessee team as well.

It was the Southeast Regional Final. Final 5? 😂

I think this has been his best coaching job at Tennessee, but if we are being realistic Pearl or the houston coach will win it.

Edit: I thought you were talking about the national title, not COY. My mistake.

Do you realize we've been in or around the top 5 all year?

It was East Regional. Last of the 4 regional finals. Late Sunday. That's Final 5.
No, it was the Southeast Regional Final played at Freedom Hall in Louisville on Saturday March 21, 1987. The other two regional finals were played on Sunday, so if you want to make up your own narrative, that’s Final 7.

If MO makes at least the Sweet 16, I think Gates should get a look. I know the portal makes a lot of sudden magic possible, but coming from 0-16 last year?! I mean c’mon.

If Rick Barnes gets this team only to the Sweet 16, it will be typical of what Barnes has done for most of his career. Most of the time, that is where his teams top out. I don't know about the rest of Vol Nation, but for me the Sweet 16 is only like shooting par. It's what should be expected. I'm hoping for more than that and will be disappointed if we don't at least play to our seeding which will be the Elite 8.

Getting past the Sweet 16 doesn’t happen regularly for teams that aren’t Blue Bloods or programs that are close to being Blue Bloods. With over 300 teams competing, a S16 is an awfully difficult “par”. But maybe you shoot 3s on #12 at Augusta.

Elite 8 atleast this year. Hell we have been ranked inside top 5 most of the year. Lanier will have to show up every game and be aggressive and Gainy will need to be on the floor more than Ziegler. If those don't happen we are out at Sweet 16 mark.

Blueblood or not, with a #2 seed, making the Sweet 16 should be the minimum expected result. The Sweet 16 would still be 1 round below what our seeding will likely be. Not playing up to your seeding in the tourney should always be considered disappointing. I've never understood fans that are always willing to settle for less.
