If CDD is retained

UT's 2012 Defense is ranked 99th in Total Defense and 101st in Scoring Defense out of 120 teams in the NCAA right now.

Wilcox's two UT Defenses ranked:

2011
Total D - 28th
Scoring D - 36th

2010
Total D - 69th
Scoring D - 56th

Wilcox had younger players and less depth. I fail to see how this is his fault.

I think the point is his leaving put UT in position to have to make changes that hurt us

I certainly do concur, especially with the post game interviews. Yesterday's post-game looked deja vu, with Dooley apparently frustrated, nervous, and very squirmy. He was terrible at eye contact. I sensed that he felt very much on the hot seat.

I have mixed feelings on Dooley's departure:

1) For Dooley to stay:
First, he is a great guy, and he has certainly brought some much-needed integrity back to our program... especially after the Kiffin debacle.
Second, the only real embarrassment he has brought to the program is found in the W - L record.
Third, our recruiting rank by Rivals.com is currently # 24 (out of over 200 d-1 programs) (not great, but not as bad as some we've had).
Forth, We were in the games we lost right up to the end (except for BAMA... and the 'WE Quit Attitude against MS State)

2) For Dooley to leave:
First, Dooley does not seem able to make a connection with the fan base (there is something missing here).
Second, He has not been able to lead the VOLS to victory in what... 15 games against ranked teams now.
Third, No wins against an SEC team since Vandy last year.
Forth, Dooley looked like a doe-in-the-headlights-of-a-semi during the Bama game - like he had no clue.
Fifth, post-game interviews are beginning to sound the same: "We have to find the answers to (fill in the blank) and we're got to find answers to (fill in the blank), we've got to (fill in the blank) better, and we have to start (fill in the blank) better.
Sixth, fan base is dividing, and many fans are exiting the stadium by third quarter. This causes team excitement, fan excitement, and finances to plummet.

In my honest opinion, as much as I like Dooley for the man he is, the integrity he has brought back to UT football, and for running a clean NCAA sanction-free program... Hart would be unwise to retain Dooley for 2013... IF he can bring in an SEC caliber coach to replace Dooley, AND get donors to pay for the transition (i.e., buyouts, etc...).

Now, whether we have Dooley, Gruden, Stoops, Tuberville, Strong, Smart (just no Stupid, please), Fulmer (as interim only), or even Ole Smokey patrolling the sidelines and calling the plays... I'm going to continue to wear my Big Orange "Power T" with pride and yell: "GO VOLS!!!" >< >

Dooley can win in the SEC with classes ranked 24th everyone else is ranked a head of us mean there is a huge gap in talent. Dooley isn't a coach em up type of coach man.

Not renewing our tickets isn't even an option!! Why on earth would anyone cut their nose off spite their face? We love our VOLS and will support them whether Coach Dooley is retained or not... we aren't fair weather fans!!! Rain, sleet, snow, hail, wind, win, lose, we will be behind them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS.. Salsucki needs to go!!!!

GO VOLS..
GO BIG ORANGE ...

Well doolely does too cause he has to approve the schemes and calls being made. Not to mention this was his hire

Will the ticket sales decrease? Will attendance be atrocious next year? How many people would honestly think twice about renewing their season tickets?

I back this football team. But I no longer back this coach.
Season ticket sales will remain in the 60,000 to 70,000 range because ticket holders will not want t give up their priority. Season ticket holder since 1967.

I'm not giving up my donations or the tickets. It is a blessing to be able to attend these games, and I will always cherish it.

Yeah right. The fans will be so pumped going into next year's schedule since we beat some really good teams this year. If Dooley is retained there will be little to no excitement going into next year. Why would there be?

Spot On! Great points. :yes::thumbsup:

It would take him hauling in a top 5 recruiting class, going undefeated the rest of the way and getting to some Bowl and the Vols winning over some Big 10 or Big East team. Uhhh... it's highly doubtful any of those things will happen.

Since you seem to lack the intelligence to reason, his bolting is why we're 3-5.
Had he stayed we'd probably be 7-1 at this point.
Try thinking.

This place cracks me up so often. B4 Wilcox left so many said he was West Coast trash who could not win in the SEC. Now he is the reason we are not SEC contenders. Absence makes the heart grow fonder I guess.

I disagree. Over the long off season and a 4 month hot, humid summer, fans always get re-fired for a new season. When Neyland wakes up each fall, fills with Orange and Rocky Top is played the fans go wild. I have been a fan thru the Battle, Majors, and Fulmer years. Some seasons were pretty bad but each fall the fans return in force as they will in 2013 no matter the coach in place. Book it. History teaches. GBO.

Maybe so, hopefully we won't have to worry about it. It would be hard for me to get excited if we have the same team with the same coaches who haven't beat a ranked team. Especially with next year's schedule.

Book it.
Most of our fans have some level of intelligence.
If he finishes 8-5, Sal gets some help with his backfield, recruits a big down hill runner to crash behind the best Oline in the SEC, ticket sales will be fine.
Put the blame for this season on wilcox where it belongs.

What GOOD talent is gonna wanna come here, what RB do yout hink i gonna come play for Dooley and Chaney, what DB's will come here???
If Dooley stays we will get a bunch of average talent. Players that the best of the SEC didn't want or turned away because they got the players they really wanted. We will get a bunch more DB's and Safeties that have no business starting in the SEC and a couple of RB's that wouldn't even make the roster on Bama, UGA, USC, Fl, or LSU. Just look at Von Bell, the kid grew up loving the Vols, always wanted to play for us but after watching what has happened to this program and Dooleys inability to win games that matter hes more likely to go to another school. Same thing goes for Derrick Green, no way we pull in any TOP talent as long as Dooley is our coach. he can't win, calls horrible plays and when its all said and done takes no responsibility. He spends the entire season blaming any and every player he can. What great player would wanna come play for him after they've sat back and watched Dooley waste Bray and HUnters talent along with the Oline and CP.

Next years home games look horrible. Austin Peay, WKU, and South Alabama tickets will be available gameday or online for $10-15 bucks a ticket. I will not be buying season tickets again next year. I'll probably get tickets to UGA & SC only.

I can't believe some people still think Dooley will be back next year.

I know there is a press conference in an hour and half to announce otherwise.

But, if Dooley goes 8-5, do you think he'll still get fired?

I have no idea when there will be any announcement, but I don't see any way Dooley returns.

I may or may not keep all of my tickets. But I do know one thing for certain. My contribution next year will be substantially less, if at all, if dooley is still here.

It's truly amazing how many "insiders" there are on this board. So many people seem to know exactly when Dooley is getting canned. They know who UT is hiring. And more impressively, they know exactly which players are leaving/staying and they know the relationship between these players and coaches.

Just stop with the non-sense. It will happen when it happens and unless you're a top booster, you have no idea what's going on behind those doors. And if you are one of those top 10 boosters...well you're not or you wouldn't be posting what's "going to happen" on this board.
