If CBJ walks, here's my HC wish list:

I really could see CBJ leaving for Houston. Won't surprise me at all. There might not be no need for a firing after all. He may just walk right out the door & down the the state of Texas before we know it.

Could happen anytime now. If it don't happen soon then it won't happen at all is my opinion. If this does happen it's going to be interesting to see who our next HC is going to be. Our recruiting for 2017 & beyond is going to be an even bigger mess if CBJ leaves anytime soon.

Our 2018 commits just might split & leave as well. Some of the 2017 ones were already going to be shafted. I'd hate to lose what we have committed for 2018(Mays, Taylor, & Richardson) & 2019(Scurry).

Is this Butch leaving stuff for real? It just doesn't make sense. I'm not for a coaching change yet. I emphasize "yet". I'm one of those weirdos on here that think we will be better next year. Flame away, but I think there will be so many less distractions and our offensive game will be cleaner. I'm going all in on JG, and think he's the guy that will bring our program past 9-4. Butch has earned another year. I'm sure I'll get destroyed for this post, but I don't care.

Flame away

I remember in 2005, Fulmer did badly. The lack of recruiting caught up with him. He fired Sanders and hired Cutcliffe again. In 2007, we go to the SECCG.
Should bUTch make the right hire this could be the same case again.

Well, at the risk of being original...I will float Greg Roman.

He has an NFL pedigree but he also rose to Associate Head Coach offensive coordinator under Harbaugh at Stanford. He's coached O-Line and TE's and had been a run game coordinator the year before. He was fired by Rex Ryan earlier this year from Buffalo where he was Offensive Coordinator.

So, he's available...and maybe more importantly, he could assemble a staff that knows what NFL talent looks like despite the stars and have a shot at beating Saban.

The knock...he hasn't been a head coach, but what are the chances any of this speculation will be necessary anyway? Right?

Why do so many people keep hinting if Jones walks away?

Basically because he's a coward that bails on his presser and leaves his players to face the media and answer questions about his failures as a coach. That and the fact that he can't handle the pressure of the SEC and never owns any of his shortcomings, and then whines about how he's not appreciated by the fan base. Most importantly though, because he's a tool. But, hopefully this will take place. He's the Pastner of college football.

We can't wait 2 years the problem is recruiting. We couldn't get anyone to come before because the program was in disarray. If we wait 2 years, which we probably will, we are going to be in the same boat

This what drives me crazy too, the writing is in the wall that he cannot game day coach. By the time we can "afford" to fire him, it will be a major rebuilding again. Bring in someone while we are loaded.
Second thing that I don't understand is all theses universities putting themselves in a fianicial crises to the point they can't afford to fire someone. Coach shouldn't get a golden parachute for sucking!

I liked Roman before and it is a good option now.. Greg Schiano is the same type of dude other than being a defensive guy but same pedigree and a realistic option.. I firmly believe that NFL background is the ticket along with a staff comprised of position coaches with NFL experience at least most..

Boom!

The makings of a good staff.

Get both.

I don't think Butch will be fired. Nor do I think he should without the chance to overhaul his staff. But if he lacks resiliency and walks away on his own...

$6 million dollar men:
Chris Petersen - #1 on my list in 2008, still #1 on my list now. Make him say "no," then offer more.

Chip Kelly - make him say "no," but only after you've made Petersen say "no" at least 3 times.

$3 million - $4.5 million:
someone who's been a successful college head coach, knows the SEC, and/or has NFL experience.

MacIntyre - SEC experience. NFL experience. One of the most successful members of the Cutcliffe coaching tree. And he's gone 10-2 vs. a schedule in which virtually every opponent has had several cycles of higher rated recruiting classes, meaning this year's success is a product of pure coaching (scouting, player development, X's and O's, etc.).

Dan Mullen - Successful SEC coaching experience. Could make a Heisman candidate out of a guy like
Guarantano.

Greg Shiano - Nice college HC experience. NFL HC experience. Been taking notes from Meyer the last couple years.

DJ Durkin - Extensive successful experience under Harbaugh and in the SEC. Recruiting well and having a solid first year at Maryland. The coaching staff he's been able to bring to Maryland rivals what Jones has brought to UT, IMO. Possibly 2018 version of Tom Herman.

Fedora - Solid college HC experience at UNC. SEC experience. But how well would he recruit?

Narduzzi - Nice job as DC under D'Antonio, nice job so far as HC at Pitt.

Cutcliffe - Excellent coach. Age and recruiting ability are main concerns.

$3 million or less:
1st time HC, long time coordinator, HC with limited experience, etc.

Willie Taggart
Geoff Collins
PJ Fleck
Brent Venables

Stick with Peterson, Mullen, Wisconsin HC Chryst, and Whitingham from Utah. Maybe Fuentes if you want to buy out a brand new contract or Western Mich/UT Chat/App St. HCs if you want a young gun.

With a good OC, Stoops from Ky would even be an upgrade.

A little smoke:

"As I said last week and in the Day After this morning, I think that Jones' name will show up on list.

Remember Herman and Butch have the same agent. And so Butch's agent has been talking to Houston people for the last week.

We will see if any materializes from the rumors out there. But agents always float names. That's what they are paid to do."

- Hubbs
I would pay for his fight 1st class.

Why isn't Jim Tressel being mentioned a lot more. I would take him. But in not hiring.

Butch will be back, i feel pretty confident in that but if we're talking dream hires i like Paul Chryst (wilcox is his DC and i think was the best weve had since chavis) and narduzzi. If Butch does stay though i hope by some miracle he guns for Helfrich as OC and fires all the current offensive guys and maybe Helfrich brings brady Hoke as DC too if shoop rolls.

Why the Chip Kelley love? He got hammered when he played Bama. That was when he had it all at Oregon as we know. I don't have faith he could do it in the SEC.

Bill Belichick. Debord coached Brady, and bill loves him some brady. Have brady talk him into coming to knoxville.

I got a no with every name mentioned. And whats with the start the offer at 6 million and then offer more and make him say no? This isn't monopoly and it doesn't work this way.
