5, 5, 14, 11 (currently 11th ranked recruiting class)
An average of 8.75 over the past 4 years. 8-9th best recruiting in the country should produce an upper quality SEC roster.
And we had virtually no injuries compared to what other teams went through. We just had 20 starters go down. Our starters that got hurt were not as good as the 2nd & 3rd string anyway. Everybody moves undersize DE's to DT with no drop off. This thread has finally convinced me.
It's quite possible that we won't announce an AD until after the game.
If Butch loses to Nebraska, the word on the streets is that he will be gone.
Whoever is new AD will have coaches in set.
Butch wins - Blackburn is hired and retains Butch
Butch loses - Blackburn is hired but must fire Butch or brand new AD comes in with another coach agreed to come and replace Butch
It's quite simple.
Injuries played a roll in tam and not being competative against Alabama.
Blaming the USC and Vandy game on injuries is nothing more than a way to convince yourself we were not as bad as we actually were.
I think we are on the exact same line of thinking. Im still pretty happy if we just lose one of thr USC/ Vandy game. Then imo you can easliy chalk it up as a bad game but still took care of business. Certain injuries played a role in every game, but that happens to every team, every year. (Maybe not to the scale but you get my drift), butto me the coaches have to build the depth and talent to beat Vandy regardless. Its all good though, we are where we are. We will see how it goes next year.Poor discipline and mistakes did our VOLS in at TAMU.
Nobody outside of UM and LSU have been competitive w/ UA - so far. With a healthy roster our guys may have done a little better, but UA is on a different level this year.
No excuses for USC or Vandy...but, the level of injuries can, and probably did, have a cumulative effect. One or two guys out of position on a given play can produce points for the other team or cause our team to fail when attacking. Nevertheless, our VOLS should have won these games.
Boils down to my thoughts on this season; a few sterling examples of great players on the field, but overall an unmotivated, undisciplined and soft team. A couple of bright moments this season, but I was disappointed in the coaches and players for the product they put on the field.

We DID NOT have 20 starters go down to injury. We did not. Stop pushing that myth. This stuff can easily be refuted, why keep pushing it? Yes we had a lot of injuries.....there were plenty to discuss and lament without grossly overstating it.
Yeah but 2 of those were Sugar Bowl wins by MajorsIf Butch wins against Nebraska it will only be the 5th time that TN has won 3 consecutive bowl games and just the 4th time in consecutive seasons. If Butch wins against Nebraska this year and wins his next bowl game, only Majors' 5 straight bowl wins would exceed 4 for Butch.
