Will he officially be on the 2017 Coaches Hot Seat and lose most of the fanbase? I feel like he's under pressure already but if he screws around and loses to an average Nebraska team, that might just seal Butch's fate unless he just surprises everyone and has a great 2017-2018 season. Who knows, maybe with JG as our QB or some better coordinators, we might be looking at 9 wins the most next year which still isn't good enough. With the new A.D. getting put together whether it's Blackburn or whoever it is, we could easily be looking for another HC next year. Obviously I don't want Tennessee to lose but Butch has a tendency to lose to teams that he should win against. Vandy, South Carolina...

need a Forum Sticky...."No more downer, he sucks, We lose anything thread until after New Years"

Where in my post did I say Butch sucks? I simply asked a question and got blasted for it. I'm just saying it could happen and how most of Volnation would react. A lot of fans aren't happy with Butch so why should I get sucked into the "I'm not a true fan" category?

What the response means, and this is true, that you're the 10,000 person to ask this question. The game and opponent changes, but the question comes back over and over.

Mostly this question, every time I hear it, just leaves me wondering when fanbase became a word.

After reading VN. The last 6 weeks or so, I would just be shocked to read any negative comments concerning CBJ if we lose or even if it is a close game. Surely you jest even hinting the fan base might go anti CBJ. Next thing you know someone might mention Gruden on VN. GBO.

^ This! What happened to writing something new and interesting instead of some crap that has been regurgitated
time after time after time to where it is just nauseating.

nothing against you I'm sure...it's just this type of thread has made many on VN sick of seeing it...I'll just go ahead and say the media and "some fans" will say he's on the hot seat, but, as has been said before...unless Butch does something against the law he won't go anywhere this year or probably next...many things can happen in a year or two...if he wins 9-10 games next year...he sure won't go anywhere...have a good day, and, as alwlays...

GO VOLS...BEAT HUSKERS!

If they lose to Nebraska, without a doubt the natives will become restless and begin to search for their pitchforks. The reality is it will still take a catastrophic next season before the ones with the power to do anything begin to start looking for a change. As far as VN goes, if Tennessee wins one faction will react like they won the national championship while the other faction will play it off as a meaningless bowl win over an inferior team. If Tennessee loses, one side will downplay it with a vast list of excuses about it being a meaningless bowl or the injuries. The other side will react as if the world has ended and Butch Jones killed it.

As the VN world turns.

Beating nebraska would give our recruiting a shot in the arm and a victory over the big ten, they been runnin dat mouth all year. Won't drive the car off the cliff if we lose but I'll be pretty damn mad about it.

No its not. It's called beating a dead horse. CBJ is under appreciated for the job he's done rebuilding UT FOOTBALL.

;-(

TennesseeDuke

He's actually very appreciated by a lot of our fanbase including me. I respect him bringing our program back to our winning ways again and getting us to bowl games every year. He's just made a lot of mistakes that very well may cost him his job if he doesn't make much needed changes next year. Coaching changes, different philosophy, tweaking the offense, I don't care as long as changes are made. He's a great guy, recruiter, and motivator but his stubborness is what most of us can't stand about him. It's nothing personal.

No. It's called being overly redundantly redundant over and over and over and over and over......

Your post reminded me of a guy who worked for me in LA back in the 60s. His dad was an official in Scientology. He was going one night a week to their "university." After 2 years he got his BA. One more year for his MA and another would get him his doctorate. He was always trying to impress us with his academic prowess.

After one such attempt, the crew spontaneously divided. One half argued that he was being repetitively redundant. The others argued that he was being redundantly repetitive. We were able to pull it off with straight faces and I believe to this day he never realized we were making fun of him.

The have what a month to fix the defense, a month for players needed to have depth on the defense to get well enough to play. How you feel about this game, win or lose, will depend upon how good one thinks Nebraska is or isn't.

As for this thread - I expected at some point that someone would post it just because this stupid thread has appeared before EVERY game this season.

Bringing up Gruden would be ridiculous.

Don't be ridiculous. :)
