If Boyd and other dual-threats don't fit our system...

Doesn't that leave it down to Stephens being the starter? Coleman and Crompton are QBs who like to take off. Coleman seemed to do it more then crompton, but still. Unless there is some other QB we're recruiting, Stephens looks like the starter. He's the more pro-style QB. If I remember right, Crompton was labeled as a pro-style, but to me he's more of a dual threat..getting sacked and throwing out of bounds aren't much of a threat, but meh. So is there really a QB controversy like we're all thinking? Or am I completely missing something(< The likely scenario. )

Crompton is athletic, but not what I'd call a dual threat QB. Coleman was running around mainly because we were running a high school offense by the time he got snaps.

i think you are more of a dual threat when you are 6' and have the propensity to run after the first read. Crompton will stare down his first read then bounce it to him. Coleman goes for the home run. We need someone in the middle. I think Crompton's day's are over at UT because he is a senior. But he is a practice player, who can do all the right things behind a green jersey. So who know's? I am interested to see who the new staff tabs as the front runner.

:lolabove: Thats' funny.......actually, I believe that Fulmer finally took over the offense for the last 2 games....that's why it looked so simple......run up the middle every time.....sound familiar?? (majors/ fulmer)

the funny part about it is that it actually worked ALOT better than Clawson's joke of an offense........:eek:lol:

When I think of dual-threat I think of players like Pat White, Michael Vick, and Vince Young. Clearly, none of our QBs are close to them from an athletic or running stand-point. No team fears Jonathan Crompton, BJ Coleman, or Nick Stephens running out of the pocket so when they scramble it isn't like they've schemed to spy them. To me Kiffin is just interested in finding a player who can make the reads, and make the throws, who won't have happy feet in the pocket to read one or two and then take off. If a kid can make his reads and throws, and still has scrambling or great running capability, I'm sure Kiffin would still be interested in him even with a dual-threat designation.

Im tellin' ya, gotta be Prac. Squad member, Tanner Shamblin. The kid is quick, athletic, was a baseball stud in high school. I mean, why not? Couldnt do any worse than anyone last season?

With all the talk of the O-line sucking for the foreseeable future, a dual threat QB would be a pleasant pick up tomorrow.

I heard and read through the media that Adkins was one of better Oline coaches in CFB, and he didnt have much success with the group we got now :dunno:

Id like to have a Oline coach that is as highly esteemed as Coach O, Cregg might be a fine coach though I havent done much research on him.

So we are wrapping up a stunningly positive recruiting class. My only question is... who will be QB?

I haven't kept up much with what Kiffin has said. Someone tell me it isn't Crompton. Please.

competition is WIDE open.
Crompton will not get the free pass this year because hes got seniority.
so with that said, it could be any 1 of the three.

B.J. Coleman will be the guy. Crompton will never ever see the field again. Cutcliffe didn't like him, Clawson didn't like him, the players didn't like him, and Kiffin won't like him. Only Fulmer wanted Crapton to play.

i wouldn't rule out crompton just yet. as far as the starter this year goes, its really wide out in the open.

I am guessing that CLK and Chaney have a plan for the coming season and a long list of possibles for next years signing class. GO VOLS

If we signed the 10th rated pro style QB in the country this year would you be happy? Obviously that's not going to happen but BJ Coleman was just that a couple of years ago so hopefully Kiffin and Chaney can get some steady play out of him until we get a true stud in here. There were just so many problems on offense last year I don't think we should give up on any of the qb's.
It will be an interesting spring.

coleman is the only one who didn't let us down last year give him a chance to play we need a qb go vols

I know it is a wide open race. But I hope BJ Coleman is the starter. Crapton wont be on the field again, unless they start having a mole problem inside neyland.
