A couple of other names ...
Pat Kelsey, Louisville HC. He is the ACC COY after taking over a Louisville program that won 8 games the year before and took them to the ACC Championship game with a 27-8 record this year.
Chris Beard at Ole Miss is kinda appealing as well after taking Texas Tech to the title game and holding his own at Ole Miss in the SEC. Defensive minded coach like Barnes who can recruit as well.
No one without deep ties to Tennessee is even considering leaving Louisville for TN. Louisville is a top ten job in the country.A couple of other names ...

As a Colorado State Alum and parent of a current UT student, if we were to lose Medved it would make me very happy to see him in Knoxville. Dude can flat out coach and develop players. He’d be an amazing hire but I don’t see it at all. He’s been in the Midwest his whole career and has a great thing going at Creighton. But crazier things have happened, I guess.
Personally, I want us to go for Ben McCollum, Bucky McMillian, Ryan Odom, Alan Huss, Niko Medved, or Tony Skinn. Would love to see us send an offer to Chris Jans as well.
I’ve been a fan of him for a while now. He’s a really solid coach, and I think he has the chops to kill it here. I’d certainly prefer somebody like McMillian, but Medved is one of the best non-power coaches in the league and I’d be very happy to give him a spin.As a Colorado State Alum and parent of a current UT student, if we were to lose Medved it would make me very happy to see him in Knoxville. You are wrong. Calipari pursued the job at Arkansas…he accepted an offer from them less than a week after he did a press conference with the UK AD committing to stay at Kentucky. Saying they “basically“ ran him off is not even close. This notion that they said no to Kentucky and comparing that opening to ours is pretty clownish..... Kentucky basically ran Cal off.... They figured they could roll the dice and throw their weight around to get anyone they wanted because "Who will say no to us if Kentucky wants them"
Tennessee would have an opening due to Barnes retiring and a stable program... That is a complete 180 from why Kentucky had an opening.
And this idea that the "Tennessee way" is to pay cheap and give a pay raise seems absurd specifically when it comes to basketball and who the AD and admin was when Barnes flirted with UCLA.
The more people invoke the Kentucky job last year as a reason for why someone shouldn't be considered are delusional.
