If Bama makes the CFP

DeBoer is out of a job if Alabama misses it this year (which I just don't see happening, Miami will be at home) and doesn't make the quarterfinals/semifinals next year, right?

I agree. Duke winning opens the door for the highest ranked (and probably the best) ACC back into the conversation. And I definitely think ND is the best of the three teams.

#2 is actually the issue. I 100% agree that head to head to be, as it is in almost any other situation, the “first tie breaker.” And I do like to see an emphasis on scheduling good out of conference teams. Which brings us back to Bama. Their loss was definitely bad. But it was to Florida State on the road. Not to, let’s say, Northern Illinois at home. So, interestingly, the committee has already also shown last year with ND that bad losses are sometimes ok.

Anyway, overall, I think you’re right and bama gets left out. Miami and ND both get in. But I do think it’s a bad look dropping a team out for playing a conference championship game.
The difference in ND last year and Alabama this year is last year, the Irish were dominant from that point forward in every single game, and they proved it by going all the way to the title game. Bama this year, however, is on fumes and looks like a shell of the team they were four weeks ago. If the objective is to give the at-large berths to the best teams RIGHT NOW, it's ND and Miami over Alabama.

If Notre Dame makes it in, it’s purely on brand. Miami beat them straight up and Bama’s second best win, Vandy, is better than anything on ND’s resume.

I was watching a talking head last night and their logic for including ND was they attempted to schedule more difficulty but Boise and Syracuse were far weaker than expected

A couple of thoughts

1. No counterpoint that A&M was far better than expected

2. Why doesnt Vandy get same grace with their schedule (i.e. us, Mizzou, LSU, and USCe were all far weaker than expected and Vandy's SOS was far better than NDs even with 4 teams really underperforming expectations)

Dude…..give it a rest. We get it. You hate Bama and don’t want them in the playoff.
This has nothing to do with how I feel about Bama. I actually don't mind Bama in most cases and if they get into the playoff, fine. It doesn't affect my emotional state either way. This has to do with what I think the committee will do.

It won't be based on brand, but on the eye test. ND has been steamrolling everyone since Week 3 and look like one of the best teams in the country right now.

I would certainly hope they were steamrolling this:
Purdue 2-10
Arkansas 2-10
Boise State 9-4
NC State 7-5
USC 9-3
Boston College 2-10
Navy 9-2
Pitt 8-4
Syracuse 3-9
Stanford 4-8

I'm not here to debate their schedule - nobody would argue it was murderer's row. The fact is they have been dominant for nearly three months and look like one of the best teams in the country - nobody can watch them and say they aren't one of the top 12 teams in America right now. They'd be favored over any SEC team besides Georgia on a neutral field.

If last nite was the only negative point in Bama's dataset, I could see Bama getting in. But Bama's offense has been steaming garbage for six straight games. No one should want to see Bama against any of the CFP contenders, and that includes Tulane and JMU.

I’d like to be a fly on the wall in the committee room to hear how they are going to justify putting Bama and ND in over Miami
I don’t think it’s gonna happen. It’s a much easier sell to avoid the Miami/ND head to head discussion and just leave 3 loss/bad loss/looks like crap Bama out. Though I have my issues with that, as previously stated, I think it’s what will happen.

It’s all about the Catholics and how many will tune in to watch ND.
