If Bama makes the CFP

Last year a similar situation happened with SMU. They were 8 and lost the ACC championship game. They only dropped SMU below the other team (Boise State) who played in a conference championship to # 10 effectively keeping them in the playoffs. They did not move #11 Bama or # 12 Miami up, so they did not make the playoffs. The argument was that those teams did not play so there was nothing to support moving them. They did however move Arizona State to # 12 but that was because they won the Big 12 championship and were in the field anyway.

They set a precedence last year - if they hold to that, then Bama is in. If they don't it will get crazy - but maybe crazy is what is needed to force more transparency in how they rank these teams.

Edited to add - they are not going to move Bama below BYU that lost - but they may move them below ND even though ND did not play.

Yuracheck said earlier each team would be evaluated independently, regardless of whether they played today or not. It’s not the same as last year.

The committee has not said that.

I've read that theres only a 44% chance that Virginia gets in with a win. The fact that Miami probably gets in despite not being in the ACC championship game despite being better than Duke says something about them and how bad the ACC is a whole.

Virginia will be the ACC champion with a win, so as one of the champions of the five top-ranked conferences they will automatically be in.

Yeah, just posting what I've read.It didn't make sense to me. Although I don't think theyre that good, they would deserve it with a win.

This whole playoff is still jacked up. Teams being left out that could easily drub half the other teams getting in. Never thought I’d miss the BCS, but I’m beginning to….maybe.

I thought you can't be penalized for making the championship. Alabama should be in. They may even win one game.

Funny that UT is terrible so we claim others shouldn't be in for making the SEC Championship game. The SEC is by far the toughest league in college football.
