Boo Carter (Status, Rumors, Updates)

It’s hard to understand because you start off with a lie. He absolutely slighted White when he fabricated an unsubstantiated rumor that Danny White sold off season tickets to corporations in Texas over Tennessee alumni. I couldn’t understand why no one else was talking about this for days so I looked for anything online to back this claim and found absolutely nothing to support it.

If you can’t be sure about that, then I am sure I can’t waste my time talking with you any further.
UT likely did sell a portion of their tickets to brokers. Many universities do at a substantial profit.

Boo was one of the better defenders on our
Top 10 Defense as a true freshman.

We all know how explosive he is with the football in his hands.

- Defense NB
- Punt Returner
- Slot WR

These are all the positions I predicted he had a future. I didn’t think he would try to play all of them at once though.

Set the drama down while we can. If Heupel handles this situation because Boo decides to act like the ultimate teammate. Then watch out!

I just hope Boo and Joey Aguilar can form a bond. Imagine if you put just a little of Joeys grateful for every opportunity mentality into the body of 5’11” 200 lbs 4.4 speed Boo Carter?

He’s going to be a Heisman contender if that happens.

Potential problem? Kid attended 3 high schools. Won't go into the accusations against him, but it's not hard to search them out on the internet. His mom also has a reputation, too. And this also was before coming to UT. I guess you could argue that those things were in the past and everyone deserves a second chance and a fresh start, but Heupel had to have known about the kids history and he obviously met the family so he chose to roll the dice anyway.

While Nico might not have had the checkered history of Carter, I'll never be convinced that Heupel never got a whiff that Nico's pop was all about the money. With all the catering and flights they did to keep that bunch happy, did Heupel really think there would be a point that they would be satisfied? Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one counselor.

Bottom line...Heupel knew full well what he was getting into with both these recruits. He bet on himself that he could manage the situation to a successful outcome. Didn't work out with Nico. Hoping it does with Carter. I don't disagree that most high level coaches will roll the dice with talents like those two. I don't blame him for that, but Heupel does have to own it. Perhaps he should think twice before going down that same road in the future? Like I said, the buck stops with Heupel. And while baseball is different, human nature is human nature. Vitello saw what a sour apple can do to a locker room and took a different path. After Banks, I'd have thought Heupel would, too.
People have the misconception that Boo moved from school to school. He did not move from school to school by choice. Some folks here would say that he wanted to play at a school that would get him more attention at the college level. Hogwash...all day long!!

I think he was absolutely caught off guard, which begs another question. Why? Was it a genuine unavoidable surprise, or is he out of touch in certain areas? I think it’s a fair question. When have you ever heard of a starting QB leaving after Spring ball?

Then the Boo thing?
CH is navigating uncharted waters. No previous coach has had to deal with open transfers, NIL, and the turmoil that some big money players create in the locker room and in the community…. Plus, most wouldn’t even know of the Boo situation until his Mom posted on social media.

For better or worse 100% of D1 coaches would’ve taken Boo or Nico knowing the baggage and the risks.

100%. This is not a situation that's unique to Tennessee and had we not paid Nico what he wanted his dad would've been a pain in someone else's rear the last two years. I suspect he's not going to behave much better at UCLA unless Nico tells him to stay out of his business.

Coach JH should won the Heisman also in 2000 he and his team shutout the Heisman winner "FSU" and Josh did it with a broken hand.

Heupel said after the OSU butt-kicking that we had some that weren't bought in. It appears he was right and it appears at least one is still sticking around.

And yet in previous posts, you seem to be blaming Heupel for recruiting Boo and Nico. (Something about “owning it.”) You are correct that it was the player’s doing (and family giving bad advice) in Boo’s AND Nico’s case. I can assure you that Josh knew what he was getting in both cases. Talented players and baggage. Every coach in the country would have taken both of them.
Not seeing the connection between the coach being responsible for bringing in a talented recruit with a checkered past and Basilio being accused of creating drama by running with the news? Two totally different subjects...at least to this old mind. Heupel brought this kid in. Yes, he bears some responsibility for the impact on the team. Basilio just put the info out there. I guess some would say if Basilio had kept his mouth shut(like that ever happens), the public drama wouldn't have been so viral, but internally, where it really counts, the situation would still have played out just like it did.

This thread says that is not accurate. The release of information instigated MULTIPLE calls for Boo’s IMMEDIATE dismissal by his loyalists. That is not consistent with the team leadership and Coach’s findings, you know the one’s with actual facts…..all of them. HE should not gone to press without at least some of them. PERIOD.

Suh finished 4th....the only defensive player in the Top 10....
When people talk about Heisman screw jobs over the last few decades, they always mention Manning, Faulk, or Grossman. Honestly, I think Suh was probably the biggest one of them all. He had the most dominant season a defensive tackle could possibly have. His stat line compared to the defensive lines of the three teams that finished the season ranked in the top three is mind blowing.

I mean Boo "could" win the Heisman.

Sydney Sweeney could also show up at my door later with a 6 pack

As thing are, Boo will most likely have a "meh" kind of season and transfer out in December. Ms Sweeney will also not be delivering my beer
She’d probably need at least a 12 pack …. You know…. For you
