If Ainge plays even a little better

ainge will probably be mentioned, but he won't have the stats. i think he will play great, but his stats won't be heisman material since we should be able to run the ball well

I loved watching CC play. He was not the most gifted player to ever wear orange but he gave it his all. 34-10 as a starter (14-1 on the road) and 2nd in UT passing yds and completions.

All that under the tutelage of Randy Sanders....... Just have to wonder the difference that Cut could have made to his success.

I hope we're able to run the ball ... I would be much more excited about Coker (after he passes some classes) getting Heisman mention than Ainge. Running right down the throat of the Gators vaunted D-line in Gainesville next year would be a great start for his candidacy ... dude, do your homework

You probably didn't watch OSU vs Michigan that year, and even though I was only 6, I remember hearing Woodson's name over and over (from the announcer and from my dad)

His int in the end zone and punt return for a touchdown was more effective in winning the game than Brian Griese was.

And saying the QB wins games is like pinning the loss on the QB, too. Should we just give the Heisman to the QB with the best record?

Did you hear is name as much as Peyton Manning's? Yeah actually they usually do give the Heisman to the QB with the most wins... Matt Leinart, Eric Crouch, Jason White, Troy Smith.... the list goes on and on.

Crouch didn't have the most wins...

To their credit, Jason White and Matt Leinart did put up some really impressive numbers their Heisman seasons. I thought there were more deserving candidates, but it's hard to argue against 40 passing TDs.

I can't remember the media that far back. I remember 3 games that year, and they all involved Michigan.

But from what I know now, I don't see how Peyton should have won. I don't think there is much doubt that Woodson was the best defensive player, and he made huge plays when the team needed it.

Yes, it doesn't mean it was right.

Personally, I had a tough time figuring out who it should have been this year. There didn't seem to be a standout, and the race was over when OSU beat Texas.

I agree with Bush in 2005, (because the Rose Bowl wasn't played until after) but I would have voted for Braylon Edwards in 2004, and Larry Fitzgerald in 2003.

Unless there is a player that is head and shoulders above everybody else, the Heisman will go to the QB of the best team (unless his stats arent very good) or the Notre Dame QB.

True, but I would have voted Fitzgerald over White, and no one will agree with me on this but Braylon Edwards over Leinart.

I think it's outrageougs to some because Manning's numbers were a lot better than some other Heisman trophy winning QBs. I think they were better than Wuerffel, who had won it the previous year.

Sometimes those QB's shouldn't have won though. Woodson was very deserving.

I don't know. I don't think he's even the best DB to come out of Michigan. Also, I thought the Heisman was supposed to count character and academics to some degree. I could be wrong about that last point, though.

Who is the best DB to come out of Michigan. Based on his college career, it's hard to say it isn't Woodson.

By that logic, Peyton Manning should be nothing because his older brother was no star.

His older brother had a debilitating disease and never got to play college football. If he had, I imagine he would have had at least a decent career at Ole Miss.

I don't know enough about Michigan history to say with any certainty who their all-time best DB is, but Ty Law seems to have been better in the NFL. Regardless, he was a really good defensive player, but the fact that he is the lone Heisman-winning defender makes it seem as if he is the greatest football player to ever line up on defense.

Ainge has name appeal. If UT finds some good WR's, he'll have as good a shot as anyone.

As for the season, UT SHOULD win 10+. They have a more favorable schedule than last year or the next two years. That doesn't mean it is easy but Cal is down from last year to offset UT's travel out there. UF replaces its whole defense and has little experienced depth. Arkansas is imploding as we sit here. And, UT doesn't play Aub or LSU.

It can still go bad but USC and UGA both travel to K'ville. Bama on the road could be the toughest game.

The Vols have two issues: DT depth and WR. If they solve those, no one in the SEC is better.

Fine, but you can't judge someone's career by his brother.
