If Ainge plays even a little better

I like Ainge, but I know that many of his passing yards last year were handed to him by receivers that always produced the yards AFTER the catch.

If O'neal and Vinson come in and look like All-SEC performers (doubtful because of their inexperience with our offense), I think he could make a run because of their speed. Otherwise, I see Ainge managing the short throws and handing off to the strong backfield (Coker, Foster, Hardesty, and Creer) with a play-action deep ball here and there to keep the safeties honest.

Last time I checked... DBs dont win games for you, the QB does.

You probably didn't watch OSU vs Michigan that year, and even though I was only 6, I remember hearing Woodson's name over and over (from the announcer and from my dad)

His int in the end zone and punt return for a touchdown was more effective in winning the game than Brian Griese was.

And saying the QB wins games is like pinning the loss on the QB, too. Should we just give the Heisman to the QB with the best record?

We did this year didn't we? :p

Yes, it doesn't mean it was right.

Personally, I had a tough time figuring out who it should have been this year. There didn't seem to be a standout, and the race was over when OSU beat Texas.

I agree with Bush in 2005, (because the Rose Bowl wasn't played until after) but I would have voted for Braylon Edwards in 2004, and Larry Fitzgerald in 2003.

I agree that it shouldn't just go to the QB with the best overall record. This year, it was hard to argue against Smith even though his competition was suspect at best. I guess McFadden arguably had the greatest impact on his team's success, and he did it against stronger competition. I would probably have voted for him if I had the chance. Plus, it would've been a nice consolation prize before Arky fell apart this offseason.

This topic is irrelevant, we all know there can't be two Heisman Contenders from the SEC in the same year.

You're wrong. There can be up to 4 realistic Heisman candidates from the SEC. Just as long as they place 2-5 in the final voting.

Who wins the Heisman if they give the award after the National Championship?

In 05-06, Vince Young
In 06-07, I don't know. Probably Troy Smith or someone from USC. Maybe the sports writers would've argued that it's high time a Left Tackle won the trophy.

Don't forget the guy taking snaps at USC. Expect to see some Booty in the Heisman race this year.
Booty will be the man to beat i think..i know mcfadden had a great year last year but usc will be ranked near the top 1 or 2 & ya know how espn & usc go together...Booty will put up big # for the trojans!

Look at it this way folks, If he is in heisman consideration then we are probably in the NC hunt....and we all know the heisman winner loses the NC, so-i'll take a second for ainge and a 1 for UT :)

Well that's if Booty wins the job. Pete Carroll has said there will be an open race for the QB job this year.

No, everyone knows LaDanian Tomlinson is head and shoulders above everyone else.

no way booty puts up the type of stats to win the heisman. He loses his top two playmakers at WR and on the entire offense. If they go to the NC game, it will be because of the defense.

I think it still would have been Smith. He won by such a dominating number and the closest 2 candidates to him were unimpressive in their bowl games.

McFadden will surprise nobody this year, and Wis. proved he can be held in check with a good plan. I don't think Ainge is going to have enough "team" around him to get a lot of Hypeman attention. We have a lot of holes to fill on both O and D and ST, so I wouldn't think we will have the kind of record that get H-man voters attention. I hope I am wrong, but I'm not.
