I thought about this today and feel for the students and alumni that had nothing to do with this. If this was UT, it's be difficult for me to put the power T on, I promise you. I can wear it after a blowout loss, just as easy as after a W, but I'd have to turn my back because I would never be able to forget.

I disagree and the situations would be a bit different. Joe Pa IS Penn State I feel. Nothing is larger than the University of Tennessee.. not Peyton Manning, Fulmer, the players, professors, students, etc. The institution itself is larger than all, and I would definitely be disgusted with anyone involved in such a scandal but they would merely be people, not the University. People do bad things but you can't hold an entire institution and everyone that has be involved with it over the course of time responsible for the wrong acts of a few. JMO

JoePa and the PSU prez were both fired tonight. The GA(now an assistant coach) still has his job. Personally, I think they need to fire his ass too. Clean house. Take the scorched earth approach because this taint is going to last awhile. More than anyone, I feel for the young boys victimized in all this, but the current students, alumni, and general PSU supporters have my sympathies as well. Something they took pride in has been forever shamed. I hope we never experience anything like this.

I agree. Dude would have been put in a choke hold he might not live through, if I saw that. I damn sure wouldn't have walked away from it without inflicting major bodily harm to him.

DA wants UT athlete, others questioned about incident

One of the targeted interviewees, Nichols said, is a UT athlete. Some people might have seen the girl as she moved from one dorm room to another at Gibbs Hall, he said.

The 16-year-old and a 17-year-old girlfriend visited Gibbs Hall on campus on May 17. Gibbs Hall houses many of UT's athletes.

The next day the 16-year-old girl filed a rape report with the Police Department. She underwent an examination for rape at East Tennessee Children's Hospital. The girl alleged that a 19-year-old football player raped her in a dorm room between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Fulmer met the 17-year-old girl, her mother, and another adult relative at the Shoney's restaurant on Rutledge Pike. Fulmer said he asked his attorney, Jeffrey Hagood, to accompany him so he couldn't be accused of trying to influence the girl.

According to the testimony given to the Grand Jury, the GA called his father who told him to go to Paterno. IMO add one more to those whose "silence" caused future harm to children. Unreal, really, at the number of people who could have stopped this yet didn't. Again, just my opinion, but the silence was to protect their sport and alma mater.

Nothing...absolutely nothing is worth the abuse of a child...and when someone knew and did not act to protect the welfare of a child, that is pure evil. That it was condoned in the name of a mere sports program merely amplifies the evil.

I honestly don't know how they will ever be able to find a jury for this. I cannot imagine trying to appear to be unprejudiced.

I keep seeing this crap. It's not funny, mainly because it's so dumb.

We're not talking about older adults who have sexual relationships with people who are college age teens, in other words, of the age of consent.

We're talking about people who rape (not "have sexual relationships with") pre-pubescent children.

Demi Moore was a cougar, until Ashton Kutcher (sp?) left her. Sandusky is a rapist of kids in 4th and 5th grade. IIRC, that's about the age where you're wrestling with learning long division and fractions.

If everything being reported is true. Paterno should have followed up on the accusations, if he does we're possibly talking about a victim instead of victim's.

i can say this, if anyone came to me with similar accusations i would follow administrative protocol, but you can bet your ass i would make sure the proper authorities were informed. if it jeopardized my career, so be it.

anyone that knew a child was being harmed/molested/raped and turned a blind eye or covered it up because of reputation, i cant put into words what i think of them.sickening, just sickening.

IF all this is true. imo no child should ever turn a page in a record book and see Paternos name. all involved, president, ad, hc and asst coaches should all be barred from coaching at any level again or having any unsupervised interaction with children.

seems all the attention from media and everyone else is on poor ole joe paterno. the young men that were molested as children, the children that were molested and the families of these children should be provided all the help and support they need.

JoePa and many others failed in their responsibility to follow up on and monitor the actions of Sandusky after the first incident was reported. This makes me sick and those that feel the need to joke about it can kiss my arse.
