If a PSU like thing happend at UT... could u ever

Some of the TV news shows have been saying that Joe Pa didn't call the cops because him (paterno) being from an older generation and wanting to handle it old school/traditionally. I think that is so much BS. I know I am no where near that generation my self, but I know quite a few that are part of it. There is only 2 options I see most people , especially leadership quality men, in that generation would go with if the didn't just pick up the phone and call the police. They would have either personally grabbed up the PoS and thrown him into the police station, or have had a quite word with him and explain that for the good of everyone that he needed to have an accident that night while cleaning one of his guns otherwise option a will occur the next morning. What happened though had nothing to do with what is right, just pure corruption to CYA of Joe Pa and the system. It will suck for the players and students, but ALL heads should roll after this.

you wouldn't believe how many penn state people are defending paterno.

there's no one involved in this who can be defended.

When your identity is ripped asunder you're likely to do any number of dumb things. He was supposed to stand for all that is good in college football, and instead it turns out he had some skeletons in his closet.

While Paterno may be the father of Penn State football, and one of the most notable coaches to ever walk a gridiron sideline, it can't be understated that nobody is bigger than the program. Same goes for UT, so the worst that would happen is I would refuse to watch or make any sort of financial contribution to Tennessee until the guilty parties were removed.

first i want to give my sympathy to the kids and familys my god be with them ..... now i have to believe that had this happend at Tennessee as fan base we would be trying to burn sandusk's house down not cheer for a soon to be retired coach ..look what happened when kiffen left ..i just wanted to know if some of the people on here felt the same way ?

Is there anyway they go after anyone in the administration who knew about it but didn't act as being an accessory to the crime? They allowed the camps to continue...

“I am absolutely devastated by the developments in this case. I grieve for the children and their families, and I pray for their comfort and relief,” he said.

It's a shame he's devastated now. Perhaps he could've prevented some of the devastation that undoubtedly happened after the issue was brought to his attention if he'd done something, instead of passing it on to the next person.

Man, you think Dooley walked into a powder keg of a situation when he took the job at UT? Talk about perspective.

This catastrophic failure across the board at PSU has created such a crater that no one will have a chance to crawl out of anytime soon. Whoever takes that job next year, wow, just wow.

They are gonna have to figuratively burn this program to the ground, top to bottom, to even begin to any level of remediation/reconciliation. It's almost impossible to even think this far down the road -- I don't even know how they are gonna field a team the remainder of the year amid this cluster of a situation.

This is what troubles me to no end. If I actually witnessed this disgusting act I would have confronted the guy and knocked his teeth out and went to the cops. I wouldn't put it in someones elses hands to decide on what to do. Joepa would have been the last to know in my opinion. Id went straight to the cops and reported it and made sure the childs safety would have came first. No questions asked. So essentially the guy that says he actually witness something take place did nothing? He put it in someone elses hands to worry about. Am I right?

You guess!?! You mean if you saw that you wouldn't go to the authorities? If I was the father of that child and found out that you didn't try to stop it or go straight to the authorities id get a bat and go all out bear jew on you!!!

I meant I guess he saw something and did nothing about it. Sorry, I apparently wasn't very clear in anything I said last night.

Do you not read? It hasn't been that long since the Catholic Church faced the same problem with Priests and the fact that these Priests were transferred to different areas as the church attempted to keep everything on the qt.

The diocese in Dallas paid out millions to the victims.

Close friend of mine who's a huge Penn State fan (grew up in the area) is currently looking for a new favorite college team. His brother, who is a PSU alum, is telling his son to start looking at other universities as he will not be attending & playing football there.

If it were to happen here, sadly, I would not support UT for a while. I know that sounds terrible but a situation like that is terrible and I don't see how anyone could support anyone involved. Those PSU fans outside JoePa's house supporting him with chants look like idiots.

I have had a trip planned for the past few months to go to State College this weekend for the Nebraska game. Seriously considering not going now.

I really do feel bad for people in the same situations as your friends.

Both my father and father-in-law are alumni. In fact, Joe Paterno was a substitute gym teacher at my father's school in Pittsburgh before he became a coach. Last summer I sent my son and another kid to football camp there, they won't be going back next summer.
