This is the worst UT team I have ever seen and I'm sure most Vol fans under the age of 35 would agree. Heck even Dooley's teams could score the occasional TD. What the crap are you talking about this team aint bad at all? Please keep your insane opinions to yourself before some rival fans gets wind of this thread and posts it for everyone else to see. It's already bad enough that we get a new Butchism to feel embrassed about every week. Don't need dumbarses piling on the bullcrap.

Let's do the math here just for fun... Upwards of 1.3 million to buyout Scott (650k a year through 2019). Then Shoop, who most likely won't be fired for cause, will get his buyout too. For Shoop it would be 2.3 million (1.15 million a year through 2019). So we're looking at 3.6 million to replace them, then in fair estimation, another 2 million (very conservative) to 5.5 million (higher end, but more likely once you consider the replacements are likely to get 2-year contracts) to fix Butch's mess. That's at least a 4.5-8 million dollar cushion for a coach who has shown very little progress from year 2-5. Not only that, but you've got two guys who are essentially throwing themselves under the bus for Butch -- not a good sign for any prospective 'legit' DC/OCs.

This guy is like the alcohol fetal syndrome version of D4H. I hope to garsh this guy isnt real and is just some troll. The fact that 7 other posters liked this post is really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really concerning. Hopefully they were rival fans just having a giggle. If they are Vol fans someone needs to take these guys out back and quietly dispose of them, never to be heard from again. It's no wonder we are the laughing stock of the SEC/NCAA when we've got fans who have 'opinions' like this. It's bad enough that we've got a used car salesman with a plastic personality as our head coach.

Well the way it looks they aint gonna fire him no time soon so hell why not be positive. This is a good roster just a few minor tweaks here and there and this is a 9-10 win team next year. Florida is in Turmoil really the only team that that Tennessee need to worry about is UGA

Most of us do not consider losing to UK for the 2nd time in 30 years or so "positive". We don't derive a great deal of positivity out of being embarrassed by UGA and Bama in the same season.

Some of us see talented young guys like Brandon being held back by the offensive system of a guy too stubborn to admit the system he's so proud of doesn't work.

IMO, the worst case is that he finishes the season. That's "soon" to me.

Minor tweaks aren't going to fix it. This is a 9-10 win roster. Maybe even better. But not with Jones as HC.

I do feel for the players because Jones has them convinced it is their fault. Brandon cannot see that now. When he gets a chance to play for a competent coach in a system that works... he will.

Have you even watched this team. Butch has had his fair shot. You may be taken a bit more serious if not for Butch already have brought in new staff and still failed The fact is that Butch is not a quality coach.

Oh last time I checked it was the coach’s job to get the players ready. I would have dared one of my Company Commanders to have told me, Sir it’s not my fault my Company is not prepared. As the leader everything falls on you, the good and the not so good.

Yeah. You not only "can" but you have to... and especially when WR's tend NOT to perform well in his system. The system appears to be too complex and requires the players to be too "perfect". Look around. Coaches across CFB "scheme" their players open often. They give their WR's and QB's simple reads that do not require them to do everything to absolute perfection.

Cutcliffe was about as "execution oriented" as any coach you'd want... but he made his O simple enough for his guys to execute. He let them play rather than "think". Jones' O fools no one but his own players.

Josh Malone was one of the most talented WR's to go through UT in a long time. It took him 3 years to "get it"... and he got out of town as fast as he could.

You are aware to have a legit offensive coordinator the Head Coach has to be willing to let the Offensive Coordinator run his own offense & call his plays.

You do know that we are still running the exact same offensive plays in Year 5 as we ran in Year 1 and we have had three different Offensive Coordinators right.

This isn't Mike Bajakian's offense, this isn't Mike Debord's offense, this isn't Larry Scott's offense! This is Butch Jones offense!

Butch had the opportunity to get his staff right this past offseason. Every coach on this staff was brought in by him. And while those changes were expected to make the team play better, they have regressed.

And injuries was last year's excuse. Even with the injuries, the team has under performed in every game this year. We have lost games in large part to the team looking completely unprepared. Stupid mistakes due to poor concentration and poor discipline from multiple players.

There are plenty of legit candidates. Two I would look at that aren't named Petersen or Patterson is Scott Frost from UCF or Troy Calhoun from Air Force. The question is will Currie move on them. I appreciate Butch, but after 5 years of recruiting and installing his "system and philosophy", a Tennessee football team should be playing at a much higher level than what we have seen this year.

We need a coach who will build a championship contending football team, not a champion of cliches and excuses.

Hell no. Another OC will not work since this is Butch’s offense and he has his hands all over it. His Big East football mentality does not work in the SEC. We need a change now
