I'd say give Butch another year

I would take Butch if he can get a real staff. Get a legit offensive coordinator and a d coordinator I think this team can be a 10 win team next year. Also, Butch did bring this program from the dumps. I think due to injuries on the team and all the impact players he lost from last year is the reason why the team is struggling..Butch deserves one more year. Its just my opinion.. Are there really any legit candidates out there?

He's had his 5 years to win the East and has failed miserably. Now he must go. Any top tier Power 5 program would fire him after the results he's had. Why should we be any different?

No.

He had a chance to hire a real OC this past season. He went out and hired the worst offensive staff in the SEC. It would be even more difficult at the end of this year since everyone knows he's a lame-duck coach.

It’s year 5

Butch has hired his own coordinators, the offensive side of the ball doesn’t matter who he hires he will run his offense no matter who is OC.

Franklin, Smart, Richt, Harbaugh, Leach, Peterson, Campbell all in year 5 or less and have turned their programs around significantly. Jones seems to be regressing. Time to move on

When will some people realize that any success that Butch had here can be attributed to the fact that he was able to bring in good players. Some times talent can overcome bad coaching, mainly with Dobbs and Kamara.

He can't. No one of any quality is going to hitch their wagon to Butch.
I think several the hires last year are indicative of the pool he can hire from. How many other power 5 schools have come after his staff?

Warren and Gillespie are the only coaches I see being in demand.

It doesn’t matter who he brings in. He will micromanage the **** out of them. He’s done. Goose cooked. Soon.

They'll all be fired so maybe theyll follow butch to his new gig

No decent coach is going to leave a stable job so they can run Butch's sh-tty offense.

Serious Clark? jones is not a top 50 coach and no other school in the SEC would trade their job for him

Bring in Jim Bob Cooter to run an NFL offense. If it goes bust, send Butch packing, promote JBC to HC.

Yeah let's just keep replacing coordinators, that's seemed to work great.

If Jones comes back next season, the interest in UT football will plummet.

He did originally sign a 7 year deal here due to the fact he felt it would take 7 years to make this happen.

I'm not a fan of Butch Jones but he did a lot to turn around the talent level and provide a better base for the program.

However, the results on the field half way thru last year and all of this year have been disastrous - aside from the bowl game we won.

He made his bed hiring a yes-man at OC (or at least forcing the OC to work within the Butchball system). He is the problem at this point, and deserves no more time in his current position and at the expense of Tennessee football.

you all are making great points, another year with JG as a starter and another year for guys like Callaway and Palmer to get in the playbook and a few twicks on the defense.. We have a superior running game. This team aint bad. Guys like Palmer and Callaway wasn't starters before the season ands we starting to see why. They haven't grasp the playbook.
