if Monday morning, rather than somber resignation we are likely to hear, our AD stood up and announced that Pearl was his guy, that he had done a lot of good things for UT, that he had paid the penalty for his transgressions, and he would therefore remain the basketball coach at the University of Tennessee.

He could only afford a jet liner 6 instead of the jet liner 7 he wanted. The 6 doesn't even have a remote for the DVD player

What price has he paid for what he did?

He's paid a pretty big price for this whole ordeal. It's not just about missed games and $$. He stupidly committed potential career suicide. He's been paying the price, and will continue to. That's why I don't understand the kicking by some. Not you, but some.

You think 300k a year out of 2 mil is a penalty? All that did was negate the raise he received 2 years ago.

Yes, I do think it is a penalty, but that isn't the point. Hamilton obviously thought it was sufficient penalty when he imposed it.

Why would this give you respect for Hamilton? Because you think it's the right call, or because it's indicative of some sort of positive character trait?

#2, although I'm not sure I would word it so strongly. It would at least show that Hamilton stones enough to take some hand in directing the men's athletic department. As it is, it appears more like the AD is apt to take half-assed measures and wait to see which way the prevailing wind blows.

I think that's more just the reality of the position. He's not the only person in charge, and whoever replaces him won't be either.

Why do these people keep clogging up the board with threads stating the same thing? It's getting tiresome and annoying. The man is gone, needs to be gone and deserves to be gone. I don't really know of many professions where you can do something wrong, embarrass your employer and then lie about it and still keep your job, or even expect to keep your job. He was given a 2nd chance by keeping his job initially, and took advantage of that chance by committing a violation less than a week later. I hope all of y'all advocating for his staying, raise your kids better than that, and teach them its not ok to lie and cheat. In essence that's exactly what you're saying.

My apologies for tiring and annoying you.
My hope, ftr, is that you will teach your kids reading comprehension and a bit of critical thinking instead of a misplaced condescending tone and holier than thou attitude.

The highest price he has paid is the wrath he has taken from ESPN at every opportunity, and by every person in the sport. That probably hurts more than anything. Remember it is all about a piece of grilled chicken....go figure. Yes it was wrong, but not as bad as most who are still coaching!

Nice edit. Luckily, I quoted the original version where you claimed Slive imposed the pay cut.

I opened the thread right as that exchange was happening. He edited before your response was posted (although obviously after you started typing it).
