You know I've watched last weeks game around four or five times now and can't help but to wonder what was going throught Fulmers mind as he watched. I wonder if just for a second he thought 'Wow maybe I had lost a little something' or ' Why couldn't we have played this well last year'. I know it's WKU, but we did lose to Wyoming last year and they couldn't be much better. Also, I guarantee we smash UCLA. Thoughts?

He probably just sat there and thought of old Vol times. He'll never be the same. His soul is still in that orange coaching whistle.

i dont think so. i think there was an inkiling of remorse in ol phil. he knows that his players never reached the potential that they couldve and he knows that its he and his staffs fault. he will never openly admit that, but im sure he had to have felt bad after watching Crompton throw 5 TDs and Hardesty rush for a 160, even if it was just against helpless WKU...

I'm not sure he understands why we got so bad. Thinking back to 2005 and 2008, he would acknowledge we weren't playing well, but never seemed to have a cure... just work like heck.

I would guess that last Saturday was very difficult for him for a number of reasons, self-doubt possibly one of them.

He probably thought he could have won by more. I love Phil, but I don't think he has come to grips with the fact SEC level football has passed him by.

I bet he wondered two things:
1) Why didn't we play WKU more often?
2) I should have hired some of the posters from Volnation to help with the coaching!

Once Tennessee loses PF will be interviewed by a writer and ask the obvious question "what would you have done better?" and he will surely be obliged to tell us all his "right the ship" plan.

I doubt many of them could do much worse than the clown show we were treated too every week.

Of which 75% were wins.

You are seriously going to go there? How about using your superb analytical skills to assess the performance trend of our program from 2001 through 2008. Report back what you discover...

He did a good job back in the day, but made us a laughing stock in recent years. It was time, get over it.

The simplicity of this years offense is ridiculous compared to last years and look at the results so far. If he doesn't look at this game as a learning experience for himself, I think it really hurts his resume if he wants to coach again.

I agree with you 100%. But, being a Tennessee fan, I get sick of thread after thread after thread after thread (get my point?) of people bashing Fulmer. He came in, took the program to a better level, then fell off, was fired for falling off and that's it. Simple as that. It was time, maybe past time, but we are where we are, now let's make the most of it and move forward. Support Kiffin and Co., but for the love of God, leave Fulmer out of it!

Fair enough. The fulmer bashing tires me as well from time to time... especially when its over the top or just childish. But I'll tell you, sometimes I almost feel like he got downright irresponsible or negligent with our proud program, and it angers me.

Me let it go? :eek:lol:
. I agree with your position...Fulmer was fired, He left, Took it like a man, and has presented himself well. It's time to leave him alone and move forward. Kiffin has brought such an excitement to UT, thats its hard to even explain. .."The King is Dead Long live the King" JMHO. GO BIG ORANGE :good!:

i feel the same way. no need to run fulmer's name in the ground. he did a lot of great things for the university while he was here, you have to respect that. now we have a new coach and a new attitude, that chapter is in the history books, let's look forward to more prosperous times. :good!:

I think time will heal the hatred. It did with me and Majors. Well, almost!

About the same amount of time it will take to right the blunders he caused...and left us with.

The difference between Fulmer and Majors is that Fulmer inherited a much deeper, more talented football team from Majors than what Kiffin inherited from Fulmer.

I bet he thought this in no particular order.

1.Why do all of MY guys look so excited?
2. I'm hungry...
3.Who is playin qb? Cause it sure as heck aint Crompton.
4. Where is that guy with my hot dogs?
5. I don't like this Kiffin guy, he doesn't clap enough.
6. Still hungry...
7. Son of a buck! Why do they keep scoring?
8. I honestly think I am going to die of hunger here...
9. That Ed Orgeron scares the BeJesus out of me.
10. That's it, I'm going home to eat...
