His knee will be a target. We all know Franklin will have Vandy cheap shottin'....

The thoughts of having a rec corp like this makes me worry about losing one of our stars. I guess it won't be as crippling as last year, with better depth.

Let's just get Patterson, Croom, Bowles, and Howard in here first, and then start looking at what we have to worry about. Even though I know it will all work out, the fact that Patterson is making news about having his work cut out for him to qualify, and we are talking about UT's luck here, I am nervous.

I think Hunter will garner a lot of national attention this year... so it would be a mistake for another team to go out of their way to try and hit his knee. Would look terrible.

Vandys cheap shots come from their O line.. There called chip blocks. Most teams won't do it, but some teach the technique. Legal yes but still its a dirty block in mosts opininion. It is why D LIneman from GA, Ark, Tn, Wake forrest and Fla all left the field injured and p155ed off.. Vandy wont be sneaking up on teams as easily this year. If Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, and Missouri all bring their "A" game and physical attitude this year it will be different. Just because the chip block is legal (for now, already illegal in NFL with fines) doesnt make it right or ok.

You mean chop block, right?

Maybe Justin and Da'rick could switch jerseys? Very few on here seem to think Da'Rick garnered any attention from opposing defenses anyway last year.

Maybe you don't watch Vandy close enough...when a player runs 20 yards wide open straight at the back of a def players legs, that is NOT a chip/chop block. That's WAR

Chip blocks are when a blocker (usually an RB out of the backfield) gets just enough contact on a rusher to throw him off of his pursuit angle, then the RB releases into a route. This of course is legal and not dangerous. A CHOP block is when a blocker blocks low at the legs of a rusher who is already engaged by another blocker. This is a 15yd personal foul and extremely dangerous for the legs of the rusher. Sometimes the refs catch it, sometimes they don't, but it's very against the rules. I'm not quite sure what kind of block you are talking about.

The opposing players better worry.. Tiny will hurt some people this year legally, but if vandy breaks that out, tiny might take out a few players . Imagine if tiny said to clear "let's get 92 high low on this play" man I'd had to get hit simultaneously by those two

I concur

Thank ya, sir. :hi: I didn't know this existed.

True a chip block usually refers to a Rb or fb with a brief hit then release on a wheel or flat route, or sit in the middle of the zone underneath the lb's

I don't know why a chip block would be illegal though. Chop blocks have been outlawed since the early 80's in the NCAA, I thought.

Also, some people will refer to blocking at knees and ankles to take someone to the ground as a CUT block. In the open field this is always legal, provided you don't clip from behind. In the trenches, I think that it is legal as long as they aren't engaged (then it would be a chop block and illegal).

Now, back to my original point:

I hate Vandy.

Nailed it. What's funny is that I think they will get what's coming to them this year. They weren't great last year but lost a good deal of their talent. I heard that Jordan Rodgers isn't even a sure thing to start.

I believe the block you are thinking of when referring to vandy is a clipping type of block.

Things I'm worried about more than Hunter taking a cheap shot:

- our run games
- our OL play
- Dools having the team ready for NC state
- if my friend Tony Vincent will make it past the next round on The Voice
- if the supreme court will overturn Obamacare
- my 13 year olds braces are hurting her teeth
- my son thinks that Jesus, not the Easter bunny, will bring him candy on Sunday
- is eating cereal before I go to bed bad for me in the long run?
- my 10 year old daughter's obsession with her ipad's cam wow feature
- my refrigerator leaks water about once every 10 days
Why is it so hard to sleep in hotel rooms?

I think I've made my point.

How awesome would it be to see Dooley throw off his headset and go across the field after Franklin when he sees the cheap shots that are sure to come? I love seeing Dooley get fired up. and Franklin is a douche.

What's funny is that I always see that picture of Reagan and imagine you as a 65 year old. Then you talk about your young kids and it weirds me out. I realize I had no reason to think you were that old. Odd.
