I Woke Up In A Cold Sweat...

And this would make him a good choice for UT head coach?
that's debatable. if the job were open, i'd expect him to be on the list. are there others out there i might want aheadh of him, yes. do i think he'll be a good HC somewhere, someday, yes.
If you really want to get down to what matters then it is W's and L's. LSU should not have gotten beat by UK.
i don't disagree, LSU would beat KY 9 times of 10. but that's how it's been in the SEC this year. UF shouldn't have lost to GA. SC shouldn't have lost to VAndy. and on and on and on.

but like i said, LSU went thru that 4 game stretch, which is as tough a 4 game stretch as anyone played in the SEC this year and came out 3-1. and beat the teams that mattered most, two of wich being chief division rivals and the big dog, at the time, in the East.

8-1, 1st in the West and #2 in the BCS at this point, i'd say LSU is doing AOK. and should LSU win SEC and possibly the National Title, if you want to go back and hang'em for the loss to KY, by all means, have at it. but i promise no one will care.

for what it's worth, LSU is actually number two overall in total defense according to the NCAA. Is that number worthy enough BPV?

I'm not debating it. They have a good D, but in any normal football year, the disaster against UK would have cost them NC game. This year, it's immaterial. They have a good to great defense, but have unbelievable talent.

I don't criticize Bo for it because he's shackled by the head idiot. He gets his job done in spite of Miles, and that's saying something. As to the HC job at UT, we're never going to know about a coordinator because they haven't yet had to be the king. They're always a crap shoot. If that's the best we can do and it means sayonara to CPF, I'm for it. However, I would greatly prefer HC track record and experience.

and just so we're clear on who LSU lost to, and this includes the losses to FL and MSU, KY still ranks the following in the SEC:
3rd in scoring offense
1st in passing offense
4th in rushing offense
2nd in total offense
2nd in pass eff.
1st in 1st downs attained
2nd in 3rd down conversions, off

and LSU lost to this team, in OT on the road, the week after the FL game, the week before the Auburn game.

sinners.

one more stat LSU leads the league in is TOP.
KY is next to last, which tells you that they are big play capable.

anyway, FWIW......

Lsu is a good team but they are beatable. There just isn't a team this year that is heads and shoulders above the rest. This is parity at its best this year. Lsu has a good defense can't say they are great.

LSU has the most talented team, by far, in the SEC. LSU's coach is one of the few in the SEC who would give CPF a run for most inept.

Yeah your right they are the most talented and the head coach is why they are beatable. With that being said the man has made some gutzy almost radically crazy calls this year and most of them have worked.

gutsy is not a hallmark of great coaching.

And that is a fine opinion to have. At least you have one. I have no problems going after a coordinator with Pelini's track record based on the current head coaches I see out there that I feel UT could get. But to say Pelini isn't doing a good job as allvol was trying to point is absurd and the reason this thread got hijacked.

I get his point that the LSU D has not lived up to its billing, which is a familiar refrain around our program - one we are trying hard to rid ourselves of.

because they faltered slightly one game. Again, they didn't necessarily give that game away. LSU's offense never put that game away. Nobody can run the gauntlet every week. As jakez pointed out, look at the stretch they were in the middle of. Kentucky was in the middle of a tough stretch as well, but they fared far worse than LSU did.

not worth the debate because there is no right answer. He could end up being the best HC on earth, he could not. His defense is very good today, but has slacked at a couple of key points this year. His D singlehandedly beat the hell out of VT. It's just an opinion. We all have them and are very unlikely to ever agree.

So one remark was that I should get a point and then later in the same post it is that I have an absurd one. Make up your mind. Also realize, if that is at all possible, that I stated he was doing a good job. My point is that I don't think he has done a great job and don't want him as our head coach.

and you can't really back it up with anything other than what you think and you can't name anyone we can get that's better. so no, you don't have any good points.

Yes I can, he lost to UK, thus he has not done a great job. I don't have to name someone else to be able to say I don't want him. Sorry that part of all this is so over your head.

Taken from hogville

Watching 3 hours of Goat r@pe and Al Qaida beheadings will be easier on the eyes than watching what UT will do to Houston's one dimensional offense on Saturday.

We rolled up insane yards on the ground with the 2 best backs in the country against one of the worst rushing defenses in the SEC on Saturday.

UT, with the help of 107,000 fans, will once again expose our coach for the fraud he is.
