Play Kentucky third and end the season with Florida. Losing to the hated Gators so soon after the season begins is disheartening. Yes, I KNOW that we could just WIN and make this a moot point, but I really wish we played UF later in the season.

I agree. That's something that has been coming up off and on ever since we started playing Florida every year. As important as the game is, it would be great if it could be pushed further back just for the suspense of it.

I totally agree. This game is way too important to be played so early. On the flipside, as time goes on the gators WILL fade and other teams will man up. It's all a cycle.

Either play them later or start the year off with two patsy's like they do. It seems to work for them.

Yeah, but Bill, it doesn't matter to me if the Gators are ranked dead last. I STILL do not want to lose to them EVER. Especially not 3 weeks into the season.

They would never agree to it due to playing FSU at the end of the year.

Timing is a bad excuse, though. They have owned us recently due to being a better team with better coaching, not what day the game is played.

I like that idea LIO, I was never fond of having a bye week before we played Florida, I think we won a couple and lost a couple. I hate playing two games and bam into a bye.

i like the idea as well. But it is what it is. Florida has no trouble beating us in September, we shouldn't have any problems beating them in September

We really sound like Vandy a few years ago when complaining about when a game is played.

with the way the pollsters are, if you're going to lose, it's best to lose early then win out.

but I agree, we should just beat them and not have to worry about it at all

For me it has nothing to do with helping our chances of winning. I'd just like to see a game this big pushed back into at least October so that it would be that much bigger.

Actually I think last I read its Florida State that doesnt want to change the date of their game with Florida. When Spurrier was there they looked into it.

All I am saying is that every time we lose to UF three weeks into the season, it takes a while to get back my excitement/enthusiasm for the rest of the schedule. I just think having a "marquee" matchup at the end of the season, with possibly an SEC title shot on the line would be exciting.

I agree. Imagine Ohio State and Michigan in week 3.

Play Florida late in the year, when it's not so hot in G'ville and it's cold in Knoxville. UT would dominate the series.

Then talk to Fulmer and have him get his head out of his butt before October.

FL would never go for it.

We do not play enough SEC Games early On in the Season

We Lose to FL and most UT fans feel that the Season is Lost

Mid Season would be better than the First third of the Season.

Sets to much of a tone.

IF we had lost to FL in 99 would never have played in the BCS Championship Game?????

Beat a better FL team the year it was postponed by hurricane.

Should have beat a Good LSU team last year and played it close with 2nd String QB.

Need to be better prepared at first of season.

It's not a problem for us when we win.... Michigan v. Ohio state is just hype. There are so few rivalries in the Big Ten worth talking about. it's that conferences' big game of the year. How many big games have we already had this year?

Florida/Tennessee
Georgia/Bama
Arkansas/Kentucky
Kentucky/SC
Auburn/Florida
Florida/LSU

The only reason that KY and SC or ARKansas were big games was because of KY's success GA/AL will always be big because of recruiting.

TN/GA added to that List????????
