If it's true none of these guys were interviewed, that's not a good look for the school, and it may very well have been racially motivated.

How many black head coaches have we had? You telling me Taggert, Strong, or even Tee aren't better choices than Borin' Doeren? Ok, Strong turned us down last time, but so did Gundy and Currie still went back to him. Gundy wasn't going to leave. He's trying to get their AD replaced himself. Gundy also says thanks for the new facilities he got out the deal too.

The problem is not that people are overtly racist. And it makes me laugh when people say, "Oh, here we go, got to play the victim", or "Here we go again, pulling the race card." Someone doesn't have to burn a cross or have a rope to be racists. There are decisions made all of the time where it's underneath about race. Being former military, and travelling all over, then going back to TN, if you don't think it's happening, you have your head in the sand. I now live in between D.C. and Baltimore. So I see racists of all color up here. Racism isn't just Whites hating on Black and Brown. It's also Brown and Black hating on Whites. Goes both ways. I've witnessed it both ways. But please don't be ignorant just yell "Race card, race card!!" You have no idea what goes on in someones mind and why they make certain decisions. Neither do I, but race does play a part in some peoples decisions. Whether they are Black or White and whether you like it or not.

LOL at this. Saban couldn’t make us relevant in the east next year. Did you watch any football this year? Yes I know coaching was terrible but many of our athletes don’t belong. See Martin for example. This program is done for years. Face it.

YOU probably wouldn't think of race as a factor if you were making the hire but by getting defensive you ignore the fact that there are still as lot of people who don't think a minority should be a member of their country club or neighborhood much less be the face of the University.

No. Its in play and we are airing it out through social media and national tv daily. The race angle is a guess. Being incompetent is not in question.

My take is simple (if you remove the incompetence)

-If your best option is a black coach. You offer him the job.

-If you re turned down by your first choice, and your next 2 best options are black, you offer them in order.

-You apply the same above to white and latino coaches.

-If you don't interview or wont hire a black coach because he is black you are racist.

-If you interview or hire a black coach because he's black, your not much better.

-Apply white and latino to the above.

UT's incompetence has removed or neglected so many options at this point that I don't see where color fits this.

Not sure about that. He hasn't won more than 8 games in several years. He was good early at ATM, but he had Johnny Manziel turning a lot of plays into punt returns.

Not only were these coaches not hired (assuming Dave Doeren takes the job), they were not even contacted or mentioned to be looked at by the UT AD.

They are all black. Not one mention or leak of a black candidate to Tennessee by an reputable media source. Despite all three candidates gaining support by the fan base.

I find it incredily suspicious that all three potential options are black and better candidates than Doeren. Yet not one got even a look.

Most people that know my posting history will understand I am not a race baiter or throw comments like these lightly. But I think it deserves to be talked about.

Not being negative by any means but we offered Charlie Strong before we hired CBJ so in retrospect that theory is unsubstantiated. As as I recall Charlie turned us down.

Skin color has no importance to me. I want the best man for the job PERIOD!!!!!

It's not race. Tee Martin has NEVER been a head coach and nobody should try their luck at a school like UT. Sumlin fizzled out as the head coach already at an SEC school. Taggart's head coaching record overall is 47-50 and he lost one bowl game.

Tee scored an 11 on the Wonderlic, which equates to just barely being literate.

Sumlin was just fired at an SEC sister school. We should at least try to get someone who hasn't already proven he can't get it done in the SEC.

I don't know anything about Taggart. But I would go after Franklin before any of these guys. He succeeded in the SEC at the school where such success is hardest to achieve. And he has had some success at Ped St.

I guess it should also be added that we don't really know who feelers have been sent out to and who we haven't tried to contact. It is a bit early to be drumming up this particular grievance.

I am glad that you gave us that information because when I woke up this morning, I started to post that, although Martin seemed like a good guy, I didn't think that he sounded too bright, and that might hold him back. When I got out of the shower, I thought that I would see if I could find his Wonderlic score to see how he did.

The phone rang and I forgot all about it. I guess I was right.
