Yeah because scoring 86 points is a very boring product. Anyone who has this mindset should gtfo of this board, quit watching college basketball and just watch NBA where everyone except the Nuggets score 110-120 per game. Besides if you haven't noticed, a lot of the NCAA tournament games so far have been in the 50s and 60s and many of those were entertaining to watch.

You forgot about The 76'ers..

I find it hilarious how quickly some people flip flop. Even BTO, CCM's biggest defender was far less supportive of him when the BP pressure was at it's highest, and Stoked4zo abandoned him altogether. The plain truth is CCM deserved the criticism he received at times this year and he deserves credit for how the team is performing now. I just wish more fans would be consistent. I hate fans who blow with the wind, Reminds me of a bunch of Rush Limbaugh supporters, who lack the ability to think / for themselves and have to follow the popular trend of the moment.
Wow! So well said. I agree 100%

So because I don't like the product on the court, that some how means I can't talk about it? That's nice.

I haven't liked the product we've put on the football field lately either, guess I shouldn't have been talking about football either. I get it now. Thanks.

If you don't watch anymore (like you said), how do you know what the product on the court looks like?

I only read the first page, but what I saw was some sorry excuses for VOL fans. If youre not behind the coach, you cant be behind the team. At this point Cuonzo Martin is deserves a job where he is appreciated and should leave UT. The $|\££¥ petition started to get Bruce Pearl back has backfired and would make any coach feel unwelcome. Why dont we as VolNation quit dreaming about
Gruden/Bruce and be happy for what we have?

Lets just hope we can keep Cuonzo another year.

This isn't really that difficult, and it never has been. There has been a small group of rational people around here who have consistently said that fans should wait the season out before forming an opinion on whether Martin is the right coach.

That still holds true - the season isn't over. Just enjoy the games, because in a couple days or weeks, there won't be any Vol hoops for another 6 months. Then you can all go back to being miserable curmudgeons.

I can't help but wonder how many of these apologists will withdraw their supportive remarks if Mercer beats us.

Yea since losing to anyone in the NCAA tournament is a disgrace. I guess you'd rather us lose to Duke and pack up our bags.

Is this comment directed at me? Don't understand it if it is. My point is hat many wanted Cuonzo gone but are now apologizing for their earlier negative comments and are jumping on the Zo bandwagon. I just wonder how many will jump off if we lose.

I hope we win out so I got no idea what your response was attempting to articulate.

Sorry I thought you were another unsatisfied Vol. I interpreted your comment as projecting positive fans would go away if we lost to Mercer, but I see where your coming from now. i hope we win out as well, but as far im concerned this year is already a successful season. VFL

The most supportive person on this board would be hard pressed to say they have been 100% behind Martin this year. After his second A& M loss we all were thinking who's next.

Glad for him but thrilled for the Vols

But those people kept our mouths shut and supported the team instead of erupting and signing stupid petitions. The time for wanting a replacement is after a coach has a string of bad seasons. Coach Martin has not had a bad season since he got here. Go back and look over the past 20 years of Tennessee basketball and you will learn what bad seasons look like.

This is the way they were supposed to be playing all year. They were underachieving all year. That is why ppl were upset including me. They have the talent but when u lose to some of the teams they lost to this year with these kind of capabilities coaching will always be questioned.

But I've seen the error of my ways.

The composure of this team in tough moments in this tourney has really impressed me. Cunzo has done well in preparing and getting the team focused. Regardless of what happens with Mercer, I'm sold on giving Cunozo a big bump in pay and extension.

Cunozo is my coach based upon what I've seen since the Florida game, but more primarily because of the way he handled the Iowa head coaches son's ordeal, and the way the players responded after the game to that head coach.

That is an impressive basketball team to have such maturity instilled upon them by their head coach to be strong men with moral character.

Love it.

Nice post - bad spelling of CUONZO's name

Well it does bring into question how you can intelligently talk about something you dont watch, pay attention to, or care about.

Also in question, is how you can draw those conclusions if you don't watch anymore.

I simply prefer an up tempo style and a coach with a personality. I hope we win it all, I just don't enjoy watching them. I check in time to time on the score and might watch a few minutes but that's about it. I'm not going to change my opinion of Cuonzo or his style because we got lucky and made the tournament and then caught a nice draw getting to play Mercer. All these eat crow, I'm sorry, apologize to CMM threads are ridiculous.......True bandwagon fans if you ask me, which you didn't, but oh well.

I can't respect an opinion that is predicated on your above statement, and it's nothing personal. I just see someone who carries the above opinion as incapable of ever being won over. CCM could paint himself orange, parade around campus pandering to students, and average 85 ppg, and it wouldn't matter, because your mind is already made up. The defense mechanism in your above statement proves it. You minimize and qualify his accomplishments, and I'd guess you likely overanalyze and sensationalize his shortcomings, though you didn't mention them specifically.

I can respect your preference for a more exciting brand of offense and a more excitable personality, but if you can't have that, you can at least be objective and recognize progress and give credit when it is due. Otherwise, you appear to have an agenda.

Again, I'm not trying to attack you, I just don't agree with that line of thinking.

All I've heard from several posters on here how bad next year will be?? I just don't get it. JR is a mini JMR at this point, mix in the others as DT will be better at point, and RH getting year to get stronger. Heck I think we may surprise some people!! They see what defense does so it may not take all year to come around!!! Should be fun to watch em grow!!!

Yup, that's been my thoughts as well. Offensively we may not be as well, but if we buy in defensively from game 1 that could negate that.

What are we averaging giving up our last 8 games? Like 52ppg? You're gonna win a lot of ball games playing defense like that.

Not enough drama in your post. Not enough finger pointing. Just objective analysis. Be careful with it. Posters like EZ come out when things are good and tell you your analysis of the team losing to vandy and the aggies due to poor coaching means you hate all things Vol.

This is not meant to start a riot, just a honest question.

If this team makes the sweet 16, or heck, even the elite 8...isn't the end result what's most important? Is it possible it took this long to 1. Get the players to buy in 2. The coach to continue to learn and adapt? I mean CBB is all about having your team playing their best in march, I would much rather we make the sweet 16 playing well, than have gone 25-6 and get knocked out in the first game

Define end result.

I want to beat Florida and Kentucky on a fairly regular (as in half the time) basis. Nothing Martin has done indicates that he can or will do that. We should be a basketball school just like they are. The (potential) fan support and facilities are in place. Underachieving through the first 3/4 of a season shouldn't be acceptable.

If you are happy with perennial bubbledom, then Cuonzo is your guy (at least for now). Getting a lucky tournament draw should not be the way a coach is evaluated. He takes us to the Final Four this year and I'll rethink all that. He's gonna have to beat Wichita State and Louisville to do that, but that's the level of talent we have. Given talent, we should be a top 4 seed. Crushing UMass should be par for the course.

(And I plan on being in Raleigh tomorrow. I'm excited that team is finally playing up to their potential.)

You are right on a lot of points, but if you don't make the tourney, no matter how many wins you had during that year , it's a bad or failed season.
