I was disappointed to hear this about the Bammers

It's funny how rare these threads are when your team wins. And I'm not simply saying that about Tennessee, the fanbase of every team does it.

I have never seen that in Knoxville or College Station. I have not even seen that in Fayetteville and that's really saying something

I am a Bama homer, and I have no problem with that. But I have just as much credibility as the OP, you, or anyone else on here. The internet doesn't lend itself to credibility.

I've been to enough sports forums, sat in enough sports bars and tailgate tents, and have listened to enough sports radio to conclude that maybe 1 out of 50 stories like the OP's are true. In those venues, the level of *** whipping that your team just received is inversely proportional to the class level of the opposing team's fans. If the OP is that 1 in 50, then that truly sucks. But the chances aren't good.
]

You want to be credible? Then give us ten specific examples of stories like this that you have heard that turned out not to be true, and tell us how you determined they weren't true. That shouldn't be an unreasonable request considering your vast experience with such stories. Hell, you should be able to give us at least 50 examples; otherwise you would have no basis for concluding that only 1 in 50 are true. But let's make it easy on you. Just give us ten specific examples.

Otherwise, you have ZERO credibilty and are nothing more than a prime example of arrogance and presumption which ASSUMES someone must be lying because his claim is inconsistent with your own subjective and illogical denials which you have developed and refined in all those forums and sports bars and tailgate parties.

That is sad. I would write a letter with picture to our AD Hart. He will address it. You never know about bangs in the head either...I hope she is ok. This is sad. Maybe to late to know who did it or what exactly happen but bottles do not hurl themselves....there were witnesses and I would send a letter to Hart.

I've never actually done this...but I can state unequivocally with a great deal of certainty that this isn't true.

I'm a Senior at Bama.

First, the student section isn't anywhere close to any Tennessee sections...opposite end of the field in fact.

The Tennessee sections are in the North Endzone Upperdeck and North Endzone lower bowl.
The student section is in the South Endzone. And the student section is actually gated off from the rest of the stadium during the game. No one can get in or out.

Second, many of the students left after the 3rd quarter after the game got out of hand.

Most, if not all, students leave out of the gates in the student section. None of them would have made there way all the way to the North Endzone after the game in front of the UT section just to leave the stadium. Just doesn't make sense. There weren't that many UT fans left in the lower bowl after the game.

Third, I actually made my way from the student section to the North Endzone in front of the Tennessee section about 10 minutes after the game.

There wasn't so much as Bama/UT fans jawing...nothing anything like that in fact.

I was right in front of the Tennessee band after the game to watch Coach Saban's press conference they show on the video boards.

I saw many Bama fans and members of the Million Dollar Band walk up to UT's drum major and shake his hand and compliment them...so ask your band's drum major how he was treated by Bama fans. I was literally a few steps away from your drum major...so I was definitely there.

So, I'm not going to come right out and say you're a liar b/c that's not nice.

I will say you're not being truthful.

I will have to agree. I was there and saw nothing of this nature. That does not mean it didn't happen though. I look at it like this, if you want to find trouble, you can. If you don't say a thing and just walk to your destination it isn't that bad.

This was my second trip there and I really enjoyed everything but the second half. The atmosphere was electric all night, really wish it was like that in Neyland but that comes with winning I guess. I did have a girl come up to me after the game and say, " you know, only two people wear orange, garbage men and convicts." I was quick on my feet and said, " then I'll tell your father you said hello." :neener:

The UGA loss was the only time I've ever seen that happen. It was disappointing to see, but it is a VERY rare occurence.

It was the worst display from fans that I have ever seen in 30 years of watching football. That's my point from earlier. The younger Bama Fans (most) 40 and under are as bad as LSU fans. They were classless then and they are classless now.

I was at the game wearing my ORANGE proudly and had no problems. I even tailgated in the Quad and had no problems. I'll be honest, I thought I would catch h-e-@-# down there but didnt. The people I was around were actually nice. I would imagine its because they already knew they were gonna win.

Night games. Waaaaay too much time for booze. Look at some of the threads we had going here, for God's sake.

Some people are happy drunks, some are pukers, some quietly pass out, and some start yelling and throwing stuff. People who sit near you might behave, but if they're six rows away, they feel anonymous and invincible.

I guess it's true: in vino veritas --true character comes out when the BAL gets high enough, and there are azzholes in every fanbase, including ours.

Question: do SEC stadiums have text message numbers displayed on the scoreboards, so that you can text security? Makes a world of difference in pro sports.

I think its a great idea, except for the fact that cell service usually likes to hide in large stadiums.

Interesting point! Why is that?

No problem with cell service at AT&T Park. The only place in the Bay Area where you can count on AT&T reception, in fact.

Of course, you don't really need to text security there very often. A very mellow crowd. :)

its well known across the south that the most ignorant inbreed fans in the sec belong to bama...just follow the stench of old chewing tobacco and the gayness of hounds tooth caps that only a 70 year old man would appreciate and you will find the sorriest excuse for a fan base that there is.:elephant::elephant:

It's also funny how arrogant and obnoxious a fanbase gets once they start winning again. They remind me of Gator fans in the 90's who were like a kid with a new toy. Where were all these Bammer fans during the Mike years?

I've always said the worst I've ever been treated by fans was at LSU in 2005. A game we won. This was the year that the LSU President issued a letter of apology to UT because their fans threw rocks at the UT cheerleader/band member busses and broke some windows. Its a classy bunch down there on the bayou.

Hate to hear about that. Being a graduate, I always tried to give respect because when I go to the away games, I want that respect also. But it must have been one heck of a throw since the student section is on the opposite endzone from the UT section and the other UT section is in the upper deck from the student section.

Whatever happened to that Dr. who was thrown off the stadium at the UT/UF game back in the nineties?

Yep. Right after Katrina.

Just goes to show that some people are classless and that every fan base has morons like that. I for one go out of my way to make sure all fans are welcome at BDS. I know if I ever see someone do something like that I'm reporting it to security. And if someone hits my daughter or family its on!

I also think to talk smack on someone else's board is in poor taste.

Every school has "fans" that embarrass the whole crowd. Tennessee has them, Bama has them and all the rest have them too. I was leaving a game at Georgia once with my girlfriend and some drunken frat boys practically assaulted us. But I don't blame UGa for that - I am sure if security had seen it those dweebs would have been spending the night in the graybar hotel. Stupid behavior from a certain segment of "fans" is an occupational hazard when you go to ball games. Wish it wasn't but it is.

Something I've also noticed is when you play a bowl game or a neutral site game there tends to be more friendlier fans at these games. My opinion on this is because ( which may be considered stereotyping ) the fans that travel are usually better off financially, usually older, and therefore more intelligent and less prone to stupidities.

That's a shame. The worst I've endured was a lady telling me to shut up when I was singing Rocky Top in '09. My buddies (Bama fans) told the lady she was out of her mind. It's bound to happen with 100k ppl, though.
