I did not make it to the game this weekend, but I have been down there many times to games in both Birmingham and Tuscaloosa dating back to 80s. My feelings were always that the Alabama - Tennessee game was a rivalry, but a mutual respect exists between the fans of both schools. There was always some jawing, but I never saw a lot of violence. As a matter of fact, I have always told people that Alabama was a great place to go see a game.

I was disappointed to arrive at work this morning and see a big bruise on the forehead of a lady I work with. Apparently, after the game, Alabama students were throwing liquor bottles into the Tennessse section.

I have seen this many times at LSU and Florida. I always thought Bama fans were a little better behaved. Sorry to hear that I was wrong.

It's funny how rare these threads are when your team wins. And I'm not simply saying that about Tennessee, the fanbase of every team does it.

I got beer cans tossed at me in Athens in 2006. (Tennessee 51 - Georgia 33)

I've never had a problem in Tuscaloosa.

Having been to more than a few SEC games over the years, I can tell you that, more often than not, throwing things at the opposing fans is usually done by the winning team. That might explain it.

If you ever see someone throwing things at opposing fans, Tenn or any fan, please punch them square in the mouth... I've seen a little kid get hit by a bottle. Made me want to beat someone to a pulp.

I don't understand it, really. We go down every other year to the game. And there are a couple of idiots, that's just the way it is. But in all, very good people. This year, man, three different people picked fights with me and that never happens. Fans were yelling "Roll Tide" in our faces after the game. There was something else in the air that usually isn't there. Part of it might be that it was a night game. It's widely known that Bama fans are Pu$$ies when it comes to drinking, but dude, get a grip!

I'm sure our fans will roll out a welcome mat next year, but I don't think it will be that bad. I hope.

Exactly. If we had won, that lady would have been ecstatic about getting blasted in the head with a liquor bottle. Good point.

I had a size 13 water-logged leather shoe skip across the top of my head and bludgeon the guy in front of me right square in the back of his head during the '92 UT-FLA game. It made a hell of a thump and he stumbled forward....it came from a UT fan as I was in the student section by the band....

Idiotic statement. There is no direct relationship between winning and getting hit in the head with a bottle or losing and getting hit in the head with a bottle.
The OP is simply stating how classless Bama fans truly are.. I am sure he would have posted this regardless of outcome. But I would not expect you to grasp that concept.

Not cool. I don't care who's fan base you are, you hit my wife--or especially my little girl, I'm taking on a mob and I'm out for blood and I'm not stopping until someone pulls me off.

Of course, this only exacerbates my feelings towards Bama fans.

I'm not so convinced that you understood.

If by understand you mean.. why does a Bama fan troll a rivals board and post pointless idiotic statements to downplay his fanbase's classless and senselessly erratic toothless hillbilly tendencies.. then no I don't understand.
Enlighten me.

They've only been Bama fans for about 4 years now, give them time to figure out how to do it, they'll get it right eventually.

Living here in Bama, you have no idea how true that statement is. 4 or 5 years ago, they said absolutely nothing, now they're coming out of the woodwork.

I saw a Tennessee fan throw a Jack Daniels bottle at a cheerleader for Kentucky in the early '80s in Knoxville. It hit her forehead and the gash bled badly as she ran from the field. ut fans are the worst.
