I really don't understand this line of thinking. Do you realize how many good coaches are out there that would come to UT if we played it right?

Chip Kelly (rumored to want back in college football anyways. Make him a big offer and beat everyone else to the punch)

Dan Mullen (look what he has done with Miss St playing in the West every year. He would probably love the opportunity to rise to the top in the east)

Art Briles (there would be some media backlash, but ultimately everyone would get on board once the wins started rolling in)

PJ Fleck (literally has Western Michigan undefeated)

Brent Veneables (has Clemson's defense in the top 10 every year)

Chad Morris (recruits guys like Deshaun Watson, Sammy Watkins and is the reason Clemson has the offense they have today)

I would be good with Mullen. He might be a really nice option. He's earned it by getting his teams to overachieve, something Butch has failed to do.

Others you could add to the list are Kyle whittingham, mcentire at Colorado, Justin fuente, major applewhite and Bobby petrino. Every single one listed would be a huge upgrade.

... for daring to suggest that Butch Jones was in over his head & that making a change for Lane Kiffin was a better option. I made that statement thinking we would still be Vandy, but now that we have not, I've never been more sure that Jones cannot, nor should, lead this team going forward.

It was made perfectly clear to me last week how much this fan base still hates Kiffin. I get it. I truly do. But I cannot imagine the scenario where keeping Butch versus hiring Kiffin works out better. Butch, after tonight, & whether you want to admit it or not, is a dead man walking. Recruiting had already tapered off, & now will significantly do so; and his in game coaching decisions are frankly unacceptable.

At this point, does anyone believe he can lead this team going forward to championships? And if you do, do any of you believe Kiffin goes for it on fourth down when a field goal extends the game?

I get it. You hate Kiffin. I hated his guts when he left. But I do not see a scenario, nor a coach, other than he that we could hire & utilize the talent is still exists on this team and move forward. Sure we can keep Butch, but why? It is extending the inevitable.

Les Miles is not the answer. And I don't think we're going to be in the conversation for any other top tier coach. So I ask you, after tonight, do you think Kiffin is still not a viable option?

You are so brave. That must have taken a lot of guts and foresight

Fair enough. Let's just do something while we still have talent to be exploited.

If you want I can build you another cross. Then you can climb up there and nail yourself too it.

You never take your ex back after cheating. No to Kiffin. Plus, he needs daddy (Saban) to keep him out of trouble. He might go to LSU, but him and Coach O will party too hard on their own.

It's all good op I was called a troll and even banned for suggesting butch was a sub par coach after the tamu game. Now that butch has 2 really bad losses everyone wants him fired, but some of us just saw the light sooner than others

That's the sad part, there really aren't. That's why we will get Coach Cliché again next year unless we do something bold.

Hell, if bold is what you are after, hire a construction crew to turn Sheilds Watkins Field into a gold fish pond and throw all the football trophies in it for decoration. That's a far less beta move than hiring Kitten.

Kiffin is not an option. He is not stupid enough to come back to Tennessee, not that we would have him.

Really? Is there some law against this I don't know about?

Enough of the 'cheating ex' analogies. They are ignorant and don't apply here.

Not being an advocate for Kiffin, but he's a better x/o guy than any we currently have.

Some of you really need to let the butt hurt go that you have for this guy..

Just a list of names of coaches who would look at how CBJ was fired and say no thanks to the tar and feathers they would get after going 8-4 in consecutive seasons.

Could not care less how he left us, but do care that he couldn't win at USC. He is a great OC, but a very poor head coach.

Kiffin is in the one situation where he can succeed as an OC. He has a HC that will reel him in and keep him in line. He is also surrounded by 5 star talent at every position. How could he not look good. He has shown he is not a HC. If he could not be successful at USC then why in the world do you want him here. Everybody wants Blackburn as AD and from stories heard I don't think he would even consider Kiffin.
