Many people have said we played with heart tonight. I really didn't see it. I saw us bow down before the WORST FLA team I have seen since the early 90s. Please Help me see where we played with heart. I really want to believe.

We were out-manned I don't care if Florida was down. If you can't tell that team was busting their ass and doing all they can then you should probably just quit watching football.

IMP i saw a team play their heart out. i saw a coaching staff scared of giving up a turnover and playcall conservatively. when they did take a chance and throw it down feild it worked out pretty damn good...our coaches sold our team short on this one..

Does heart = talent?

We got beat by 2 bad picks, and a fake punt we fell asleep on. And at that we are down 7 in the 4th quarter with that happening.

We made some mistakes and got beat by a more talented and deeper team at this point.

Face it, Guys and Dolls, it is hard to have the level of confidence with Simms displaying stupid judgement time and time again. Both interceptions were totally his fault due to poor judgement. Growing pains with a guy who is in his first big time games is to be expected so give the coaches some slack. Simms took several unneccesary sacks, too. He will get better.

GO VOLS!!

Stupid statement again. I should just stick the bball and recruiting threads.

Example, we got down 2 TD after silly TO's. Dooley is shown on camera yelling at his team to keep going and keep playing and fighting. The DL was STILL waving their hands in the air attempting to get the crowd back in it (approx 8 minutes left). We force a fumble (Austin Johnson). Unfortunately, Tauren had a fumble. So what. We fought a decent UF team with 0 depth on our squad.

G Jones is out, half of our offense is freshmen and guys with very little experience. Our DL has 0 depth and is again very young. People, use your heads.

Hey TigerVol--namecallign is a good way to convince others of your point. It is against the rules of this forum and you ahve been reported. I really want to believe in this team, but they have quit on us twice now.

Wow. Look at our for the thread police.

Wait, is that name-calling? :eek:lol:

Grow-up.

I wish we, as fans, cared as much about the guys on the field as much as they care about us cheering them on.

Here is what I saw. Tennessee was the more talented team. Our D line destroyed their O line fro 3.5 qtrs. Our WR were steps ahead of their DBs. Our special teams sucked as usual as did our secondary. We scored on a big big play to make it 24-17 and then they just stopped trying. Maybe it was the fumble, maybe they were tired. If fatigue is the issue, conditioning was not done properly. I DON'T expect to win. I do expect the team to give their all every play every game.

I stopped reading at, "Tenn was the more talented team."

I hardly ever post... but, eventhough I concur with you that a message board is not a place for namecalling, this team hardly quit. The playcalling may not have been ideal (because of the limitations of our QB), but this team surely did not quit. We are outmanned and outgunned at this point. We lost by 14, but I'm still proud to be a VOL. They gave all for Tennessee today.

Were you alive during the Zook years? Also if you really thing we are more talented or deep than Florida you don't have a clue.

All of the bolded statements. You proved that you have 0 clue what you are talking about. UT has a fraction of the talent UF has. We have some very good players, others, not so great.

We definitely did not dominate their OL for 3.5 quarters. What game were you watching? I think you only remember the big plays we made on the line. On most 3rd downs, they had amazing pass blocking, and we couldn't even startle Brantley with a 4-man rush. We did well upfront, not great or dominant. Don't forget, we start only 2 upper-classmen on the DL. Others, we rotate TRUE FRESHMEN.

Our secondary is one of our decent points actually. J Jackson is a great instinctive and talented player. Brent Brewer is going to surprise you for those of you who know who he is. Eric Gordon and Art Evans are actually pretty good CB's.

If you don't expect to win, then why the hell are you a fan of any sporting event? At least HOPE to win.

Even if we are not as talented or deep as Florida - I can buy that, but How about James Madison or Jacksonville State? Were they not less deep or talented than VT and Ole Miss? Yet somehow they dug deep and refused to quit and the lesser team came out on top. Why can't we do that? Someone please tell me.

You do realize we're playing with about roughly 70-73 scholarship players, 6 D-linemen because 2 of our top guys are hurt (oh yeah and Hughes played the second half injured), 2 sophomores and 2 true freshmen on the O-line, and that our defense was on the field about 12 and a half minutes in the third quarter right?

I would stick to "we quit".

That is possible.

I hope to win, but I know what we have this season. Our D line handles all world Demps. That is what they needed to do. Our secondary gave up how many 3rd and longs?
