I want to apologize to Coach Martin

How?

Year 1. Way over achieved.
Year 2. Met expectations of where we would be with Maymon with him missig whole year.
Year 3. Not ranked but expected to make tourney. We mad the tourney. Met expectations. Only VN thought we would be a 6 or 7 loss team. No experts , publications or polls did.

Also the anti Martin people refused to acknowledge that he did coach well enough to win several of the losses. Martin can't shoot free throws for them.

maybe some have higher expectations of themselves and their teams. If you want to shoot low and be fine with it, that is absolutely your option.

he played 8 games in, not half. So you think NIT is overachieving and I don't. No big deal
2 players are now all SEC and one all SEC d that were on that team. Again, if your goal of overachieving is a pos 2nd tier tourney, you can keep your lofty goals.

This is laughable

One should have been a senior in hs and one was a sophomore who averaged 1.8 the year before. The all sec D player was a 3 star freshman. Do you not think expectations change year to year?

I think you are full of excuses. By all means again, reach for mediocrity, and make excuses when it occurs.

Sparty is on point IMO.

If you don't like criticism from fans don't come to a place that has top 10 attendance even when the product is NIT teams. This fan base is passionate.

Cuonzo is going to get a nice raise and extension out of all this. He should be happy and he should be happy that UT take a chance on him 3 years ago when he was an inexperienced coach without a tourney appearance on his resume.

Personally, I think if that petition never gets made, Tennessee would be playing in the NIT. This team played uninspired basketball for the majority of the season. And this is a coach who was in his third year and his best players were upperclassmen.

It seems we are peaking at the right time so let's all enjoy the ride.

You are probably part of the fire-Holly crowd too.

you are talking out of your ass. People were pissed because the team wasn't playing to potential again. Now, here you are taunting like you knew this was coming. gtfo with your bull****.
Where were you when we were playing bad? Nowhere, so don't show up now telling people what they should think, clown.

And you are full of something else. But I'm not making excuses. If literally everyone picks you at the bottom of the conference and you have lost the whole starting line up, but you come in and finish 2nd and win 19 games and some coy awards you have overachieved. If he took over a program in better shape I would see it differently. We won over 20 games and made it to the third round. We are now having a good year. Get over it.

get over what? You are the one talking about 2 years ago. I was commenting originally about people upset at CM and the program for how we looked this year and a few games ago. Too many of you are too emotional to be able to discuss the good and the bad without acting like mental midgets. Who cares if people were mad when we weren't playing well, outside of you and a couple other excuse makers. Now, people are happy, but you and other fools want to bring up why fans were mad weeks ago, yet you have no understanding of why. Maybe because you set your goals lower than others.

My only disagreement is that, for a large faction, it wasn't as innocent as demanding they play better. It was calling for his head in January and signing petitions to bring back a former coach.

I was disappointed too for 3/4 of the season, but was willing to let the season play out and reserve judgement until then. You know, the rational approach instead of the emotional one.

You are seeing why now.

+1

You brought up two years ago when you claimed he has under achieved every year the whole tenure. They have or had every right to be mad at bad play. But that is not what happened. People said every year he under achieved and we weren't going to win anymore games , he should be fired mid season and everything else.

Why the f would anyone apologize to CCM?

Stupidest thing I've ever heard.

He gets paid good $ to win b-ball games.

When they don't, he deserves criticism. When they do, he deserves credit. It's that simple.

I'll start apologizing to coaches when they start calling me and apologizing after bad losses.

Lmao so now the ones who signed the petition and were most vocal are taking partial credit for the turn around? Am I reading this correctly?

Of course you aren't and your added bs is something everybody sees. As a matter of fact, you mention a 3 yr extension today, yet just recently hoped CM quit instead of coach next year and even started new coaching threads saying you wanted the la tech coach.

I assume you'll just act like that didn't happen.

You signed the petition also. Let's not forget that. I can't speak for others, but I'm not taking credit for anything. The team is out there playing, not me.

I think the petition had an impact. The players have even said as much.

Now, how many more regular season games could the Vols have lost and still got in? Zero.

Is it so crazy to think that the petition helped win one of those games?

I've not been a vocal negative fan towards Coach Conzo. However I have not held much faith in him, and I have been guilty of apathy towards this team and to this coach. Bluntly, this team is playing with passion and fundamentals. I'm sorry for the doubt and not being a passionate supporter. I have been afforded with some excellent basketball these past few weeks, and it's only getting better. All I can say is go vols! Keep up the good work and I'm on board 100%!

When you email him your sincere apology you might want to learn how to spell his first name.

If you can say with a straight face that after the second A& M loss that Martin would turn us around this year, you are a better man than me.

I did not sign a petition but added to the coaching search conversation.

I'm thrilled for Martin and the Vols.

Don't feel guilty. Until now, none of us had any reason to have faith in CCM. Now the team is starting to show some signs of life and the Sweet 16 looks very possible from where we're sitting.

Go root for Auburn. I remember your words. Don't come back now just because we are winning.

1. I never once said "I hoped he quit", so you're a damn liar.

2. I never started a thread about "new coaches", so once again, you're a damn liar.

Anything else you'd like to lie about?

On the petition, it's why I clearly included "the ones who more more vocal in my OP". I signed it for what it was supposed to be, IF there was an opening whether that's Zo retires, takes a different job, is fired or passes away, that I would support Pearl being rehired....that was all.

Yes IMO

The players also said that Zo wasn't the issue, they've finally just bought in basically and started doing what he's asked of them all season.

If you think it had an impact then maybe start a petition that he should be fired if we don't win it all, maybe it'll motivate them to win it all.
