I want to apologize to Coach Martin

These "I'm so sorry coach now that you are winning" threads make me throw up in my mouth a little.

Nobody has a reason to be sorry...this team is finally gelling and some signs of decent coaching are rearing their heads...there was A LOT of the opposite during the season...more of this and less of that and they don't get into the tourney via a PLAYIN GAME...the petition and rumblings about Cuonzo were the result of legitimate concerns...most of the disgruntled are happy to have a reason to shut up and watch this team perform.

I think they're playing light years better than people expected them over the last 8 games or so. We've been playing like a 1 seed lately.

Light years better than reasonable people expected. I'd agree. We have some nuts on here though, and expectations were wacko by some.

Hopefully we will make a good hire but if not we will get rid of him and try again.

Brilliant. Let's get rid of a 20-win coach so we can get back on the coaching carousel. I remember the past. It ain't really much fun.

I've not been a vocal negative fan towards Coach Conzo. However I have not held much faith in him, and I have been guilty of apathy towards this team and to this coach. Bluntly, this team is playing with passion and fundamentals. I'm sorry for the doubt and not being a passionate supporter. I have been afforded with some excellent basketball these past few weeks, and it's only getting better. All I can say is go vols! Keep up the good work and I'm on board 100%!
amen. Rt with you!!

I think he's earned the right to keep his job at this point. A loss to Mercer would be disappointing, but his accomplishments will outweigh that disappointment. At least they should. Mercer is no slouch, as Coach K can testify.

Couldnt agree more...:hi:

Don't worry. The fair weather fan bug will reinfect all who swiftly damn coaches and players when things aren't good, then transform themselves into loyal fans when things are good. The disease is rather common to fanbases in general. But targets those who can't be objective during bad spells. Heck, I even remember how "Lew Alcindor" who played with one good eye but was damned and worse when Elvin Hayes' Houston team beat UCLA by one point. Nevermind the kid was half blind due to an injury. Then the same folks practically named him a god when his team beat Houston later on when he had both his eyes working by then. So don't worry, history will repeat itself. :)

Look, al in saying is Conzo has exceeded performance expectations, and has exhibited class in such a manner that, win or lose the next game, I'm a supporter. I wasn't necessarily against him previously, I was just apathetic. He's won me over. Go vols!

Take us to the Sweet 16, and you're my dude for the future Cuonzo. Keep on recruiting. And if Stokes comes back.....not just yet....but **** yes.

Stokes I think would be making the best decision for himself to play football. He's kind of undersized for his position in basketball, but he could be a freak show talent at TE. If he can catch the ball and block...he may be a serious talent at TE.

CCM has them playing ball at end of season. WTG. I have to admit, I was not in the CCM camp and have been critical. I was not sure if last 5 games of reg season was us doing good or playing bad teams. Lately they have been playing like I thought they should have been playing all season, or at least close to this. I have also been highly impressed with how much class not only CCM, but the team has displayed. They are representing our school well. I think most of us loved CBP because he brought excitement, he also brought in the NCAA with his antics. CCM is anything but exciting, but he also brings honor, integrity and class to our school. He overperformed his first yr. Met expectations his 2nd yr. Underperformed during most of the season, but has them playing lights out now. Combine that with his teaching our young men how it should be done is enough for me. I now say give him an extension. Maybe he can learn to be more vocal, especially with the refs. Representing the school with class means a lot to me. GBO all the way to final four.

It actually may be too late to apologize for those who have been wanting a new coach. There are teams looking at Coach Martin as we speak. Coach M may leave on his own accord. So, the next time some of you speak before thinking, consider the consequences. Now, is the time to get behind this team if you haven't been.

why apologize for raising hell when a coach and team are underperforming? This is a very talented team and they are finally playing to their potential, outside of a bad half against UF where they puckered up and reverted to losing ways.

Problem is too many people make it all too personal and it's simply about performance, and some can't fathom that others thought this team should be a 5-6 loss team preseason.
You are seeing why now.

A part of good coaching is having your team peak at the right time. A lot of you have been impatient like always. If you think you can do a better job, then apply for it.
