What we we all give to see 3rd and Chavis back after watching Justin Wilcox for two years?????

with these players Chavis would be in disarray......shmucks like you need to realize the level of talent the staff has to work with because comments like this should embarrass yourself

No thanks ...

Chavis is still running the preven D down at LSU. We all saw what he was able to do with it when he had the best talent possible. LSU is making it work simply because he has the BEST D (athletes) POSSIBLE. In years where he doesn't have those athletes, they can't win the big game ... see last year's LSU squad and the countless other UT defenses he failed to coach to potential while he was here.:birgits_giggle:

Could not be more correct - great for Texas Tech, Memphis [but not in '96 if I remember correctly] and Wyoming, Bama and gators not so much. GBO

For 1, I would like to say that I am more and more happy to not be FijiVol every time he posts. 2, give the guy a chance to build his players. I'm sure Fiji wouldn't understand if his Arby's manager got mad every time his slicer broke down.

Chavis with the talent he has now versus what we have for him???? The talent level they have is unbelieveable. Why would Chavis even want to come back?? He was a good coach up here and he's doing great at LSU but you have to give credit to Wilcox because he's playing with half the talent Chavis has now. You take a pretty good coach in Chavis and give him all that talent it becomes really easy. I believe Wilcox will succeed if he can get some speed and better players and that will take time. Did everyone forget we lost our best DB right before the season and I think we have played atleast 15 true freshman this year as well as losing a stud in hunter??? I hope we atleast give dooley and wilcox time to see what they can do with better players if we can lure them in. Still not sold on Chaney and the offensive play calling and the run blocking though. Seems like his play calling isn't that great and we do have some talent on the offensive side of the ball but looks like we need some offensive line if we're ever going to be able to run. A good running back that hits the hole a little harder and doesn't fall so easy would help as well. Would love to get another stud RB in this class.

just remember even Monte didnt do so well and is still not at USC. It always takes talent thats the bottom line.

It's amazing how as soon as Chavis is coaching a defense, they magically become uber-talented and he doesn't deserve any credit for their success.

Good point. It's amazing what he's done with those untalented overachievers in Baton Rouge.

LSU's scoring defense was 9th in the SEC the year before Chavis arrived; did the talent just magically show up then, too?

Man, quit being such a damn Fulmer/Chavis suck. Chavis is solid when he's got great players. He's shown that consistently, and you have to give the man his props. But, at the same time, you have to realize he let Matt Mauk QB draw his way to an SEC championship with Albert Haynesworth and John Henderson on the same D-line.

He's solid with really good players and he is good at developing LB's. As far as being some sort of master schemer, he is not.

Mauck's 3.6 yards per carry were surely the reason we lost the game and not two fumbles by our offense at critical junctures. Chavis not only builds a superb system, he schemes as well as anyone else. He's definitely a heck of a lot better than Wilcox has shown to this point, and light years better than what Monte has shown at the collegiate level post-Tampa.

Yes. He let a team that lost their starting QB to put up 31 on us when he had elite, and I mean elite talent. In 2007, we had better talent than we do now and his defense allowed 4.7 yards per carry for the season. That was the worst since they started keeping the damn statistic. So, quit building him into something he's not.

He's decent and not great.

If you were watching LSU game yesterday, you heard Chavis' quote: this tiger defense the best he's coached since '98 at UT. Y'all get over it...we're moving on & trying to get better personnel. GBO

Not me the way Fulmer, the other Fulmer staff member, and that Includes Chavis, he should not be ever allowed back on campus, given equal talent Wilcox is twice the coach Chavis ever was or will be.

That is just silly. Wilcox may be a decent D-Coordinator, but let's not get hasty... Chavis actually won some games with his D. And I am not a fan of his by any means. But all the Wilcox love should stop.
