Our defense was absolutely atrocious both against the run and the pass. We gave up 6.2 yards per rush on defense.

Our running game that all of you have been saying was going to be so stellar this year went for 110 yards (only 2 yards better than our average rushing yards per game last year).

In summary, we're too one dimensional on offense, and pretty much anything that an opponent wants to do will be hugely successful against our hideous defense.

What the hell is wrong with Demonte Bolden? Is he just that big a bust at tackle!?!?

Umm when you get down 17 in the second half and our D at the time showed no signs of stopping them I don't think it would have helped to keep pounding the run...but that's just me....

How about from the three yard line in the 3rd quarter?

I Deshawn Jackson was injured during the game, we would have won the game.

Obviously we should have run the ball there no doubt but at some point when we were showing no signs of stopping them we couldn't keep running...thats all...

Exactly. Our coaching staff conceded the fact that we weren't tough enough to cram the ball in the end zone on the ground. Then, they topped it off with that idiotic decision to go for it on 4th down. Kick the field goal and take the 3 points. There were over 9 minutes left in the third quarter. We had tons of time left, and we needed to cut the lead to two scores.

While I agree with you...you can tell me....did you honestly believe by the way Cal's offense was playing at that point in the game that we could stop them? I know I had lost faith...

If we never stopped Cal's offense for the rest of the game, then it didn't matter one way or the other whether we scored 7 points or 3 points on that 4th down since Cal was leading by 17. You've got to take the points there. That was piss poor coaching, and it didn't surprise me in the least because we have piss poor coaches.

Lets just say I think Florida will rip Tennessee. They may not put up as many points, but hey will have a lot of fun.
Florida is in the same boat as us. Tons of young talent, not quite developed yet. Cal had experience as well as speed. We can beat Florida.

I think we will face far better running teams, and that's going to be a problem.
Who? Ark? Please. Cal's OL was superb, Longshore was pretty sound, Forsett was an absolute beast (second best we'll face all year next to McFadden), and their speed guys were absolutely able to run circles around our D.

The news: There is speed in the Pac-10. We just found out tonight. And given Auburn's fumbling tonight, and Les Miles coaching prowess, I feel safe in saying that nobody in the SEC is that much better than Cal this year. Better, maybe, but not by a bunch.

I didn't think we would...they were doing whatever they wanted...the only reason we stopped them 3 times was because they got conservative...as soon as they wanted to score they went right down the field and did so...I would be very interested to see what their average time of possession on scoring drives was...I bet is was no more that 4 minutes...and I think I'm being generous...

We won't have 25,000 fans in Gainesville. Florida runs the option. That equals trouble for us...

I agree. General Neyland has probably rolled over in his grave a few times in the last several years. Terrible special teams, terrible defense, and terrible running game. These are things that Neyland emphasized. It's no surprise that we've sucked since these ideas went out the window. Why do they even bother reading the Maxims anymore?

i saw every snap of floridas game today and i seriously doubt our D's abilities to stop em'.... i dont think our D will have an answer for the spread offense...

sure our LB were fast sideways but then were they thinkin they just need to touch the RB?? they need to lay their axe and bring em down....
