They also had the long pass play called back for off interference. Would have been first and goal around the 5.
With the exception of Butch Jones what coach doesnt come in guns blazzin to win a football game?I sit here looking at Tulsa's scoring drives
4 plays, 80 yds, :50 sec
10 plays 79 yds, 2:46
1 play, 43 yds, :12 sec
11 plays, 93 yds, 3:59
12 plays, 69 yds, 3:59
One FG blocked
I would venture to say that Montgomery is going in, guns blazing to win. OU has it by 2 TD's at the moment with little over 2 min remaining in 4th. O/U for this game was 71 I believe.
In all honesty, BudBarry, a dropoff in defensive intensity is not uncommon in the aftermath of a big win. Regardless of personnel or scheme, a Tulsa simply doesn't command the same respect from Oklahoma that a Tennessee does, just as a Bowling Green doesn't automatically command the same respect from Tennessee that an Oklahoma does.
For all of our grievances about playcalling, the Tennessee-Oklahoma game, particularly in regulation time, was an old-fashioned field-position, defensive slugfest. Or about as close to it as you will find in this wide-open era of slide-rule football.
I think butch came out with guns blazing. Just didn't have the ammunition to last.
Good pointsTulsa's offense averaged about 420 yards a game last year and was primarily a passing offense. Oklahoma never showed that they could handle a passing attack -- they just showed they could outpressure UT before we could make pass plays. Tulsa's OL was ranked in the top 25 last year (they didn't give up a lot of bad plays, basically) and is built out of seniors and juniors with experience, so I imagine they're handling what OU is trying to send at them and forcing them to play honest with coverage. Eh. Just different teams at different places.

we played this year. Then they played Tulsa. Ouch. Is this a sign of things to come or just Tulsa catching an Oklahoma team after a huge win?
