Based off of what could we make that assumption?
We were 3 plays away from losing to USC, VAndy, and KY last season and finishing 6-6. If anything, since 2005, the trend has been to lose 6 games per season...
Edit: I misread this, are you saying SEC East "Championship"? Or SEC Championship?
Geez Louise... an Eastern division "championship"...
But didn't...a Win is a win and a loss is a loss. At the end of the season, all that matter is the record. Not how we got there.
By your theory, I guess UT should have never won the NC.
against Syracuse...pass interference call on 4th down in the 4th quarter. This kept a drive alive to allow Jeff Hall FG.
Florida...they missed a FG. Had they made it, they could have won.
Arkansas...the fumble
We could go on and on with coulda, woulda, shoulda...the bottom line is what happened.
Last year UT played in Atlanta...that means they ended the SEC season better than any other team in the East.
I am sure that after we lost to the Gators...there was many that rooted for Fulmer to fail!
Hey Ref, this post is pure genius. I think you have hammered home Rasputin's point. Didn't we play against FSU's third string QB? What was his name Marcus Outzen or something?
I think we pretty much backed into that NC just like we backed into the SECCG last year.
A win is a win and we'll all take it, but it's not like we were the '95 Cornhuskers.
what about this angle?
I am 42. I remember college football seasons being 10 games long. Have a great year and you go to a bowl game and play 11.
Last year we were 10-4. That's .714, or 7-3 in the old days. Those used to be okay years for auburn, sc, arkansas, georgia, florida and lsu, and were stellar years for vandy or ole miss.
Now a 10 win season (or winning 71.4% of your games) defines greatness???
I love coach fulmer and appreciate all he has done for the vols. I hate how sad this whole thing is and wish it had ended differently. But... It is past time.
7-3 just doesn't get it and neither should 10-4.
Give him 1 more year?
What decent OC would come here knowing it might possibly be a 1 year gig?
What recruits would come here (if CPF is their sole reason) knowing he might be gone after 1 year?
Could you see CPF beating Fla Bama Ga next year and a SEC ship next year?
...... 1 more year....1 more year....we can turn it around!!!
Are you saying the left picture equals the right? I don't think so.
Coach Fulmer's career compares favorably to the best coaches in the history of the NCAA. He's well respected everywhere but his home state, which is pretty pathetic of "Vol" fans if you ask me....
2005 sucked, but i really tried to convince myself that it was just a fluke. almost every good coach has a scewy season every blue moon. but the fact that fulmer has continued to falter against the likes of meyer, miles, saban, etc is what has done it for me. the new guy has to be able to contend with the top tier coaches. and fulmer has definitely not been doing that.
