5) I'm 20-2 in games attended and will be in Columbia saturday!

Ok, maybe that doesn't work too well when you have the lack of depth we had, but certainly won't hurt! Go Vols!!!

Do u realize they have only beat us 4 times ever?

beating South Carolina.

First let me say that I always look at upsets alittle different and if we were to put talent against talent then we lose.

What I see is:
1) Tennessee wanting a win badly. These kids are looking for a spark.
2) The WILL to prove they can beat someone they aren't suppose to.
3) Show everyone that they can play every down, every quarter
4) South Carolina looking ahead at Ark and UF plus getting caught thinking about a possible SECE title.

I posted a thread about Georgia running all over us because they were due a big win and we were up next.

I think on a smaller scale, we are due a win and SC could get caught looking ahead. If you show us blood right now, we may fight tooth and nail for that W.

Go Vols

Note: I have had 3 glasses of Kool-aid today but it tastes good.

:clapping: that is what i like to hear, im thinking the same way u are buddy!!! im Glad we're on the same page!!

I don't think SC will be looking ahead at ARK and UF. Spurrier wants to beat UT bad anytime he can. ARK is in the West, so a win aganist UT means a better shot at winning the East, and going to the championship game. That said, I am not hopeful for an upset win Sat. in Columbia. Sure, on any given day....., but we have been so badly outplayed in the second half this year, I can't see us winning. Hope I'm dead wrong though.

I am going to the game saturday and will be in my Orange hoping for the upset. I think TN may catch the Cocks looking ahead. They are not used to being in this position and don't know how to handle it. Down here the fans are already talking about the Ark UF games, just assuming the win v. TN. Also, they are talking about hoping its over by the third so they can get to TV's to watch the most important game UF v. UGA because it helps their East championship hopes.

Don't know if you heard but CSS is giving up the play calling duties again starting this week . . Could this be the break TN needs?

Calling plays is what Steve Spurrier does
October, 26, 2010
By Chris Low
The play-calling duties for Steve Spurrier the last few years have been like a hot potato.

He keeps trying to pass them off, which is mind-boggling when you stop and think how brilliant the Head Ball Coach has been at calling plays during his Hall of Fame career.

Eric Clapton plays the guitar. Steven Spielberg directs films, and Steve Spurrier calls ball plays.

That’s what he does … better than anybody else I’ve seen over the last two or three decades in college football.

But now, all of a sudden, with South Carolina poised to make history and the pathway to a first-ever SEC championship game wide open, Spurrier decides the play-calling duties will be more of a “community” effort.

That’s like Kobe Bryant saying he’s going to start letting his teammates take more shots when the game’s on the line.

Listen, Spurrier is always going to be in the middle of everything South Carolina does offensively, and whatever quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus calls, Spurrier is going to be right there listening on the headset.

But haven’t we been down this road before when Spurrier turned most of the play-calling duties over to his son, Steve Spurrier Jr., a couple of years ago?

No disrespect to Spurrier Jr., and no disrespect to Mangus, but these next three weeks may be the most important ones in South Carolina football history.

It’s not like the Gamecocks are in contention for an SEC championship every year.

Now isn’t the time for Spurrier to be experimenting with the play-calling.

And, yes, I realize that play-calling is often times overrated and that most of the work is done during the week.

Still, Spurrier is the best there is at calling plays, and if I’m a South Carolina fan, he’s the only guy I want calling plays these next three weeks.

I understand the “community” concept and that Mangus and offensive line coach/running game coordinator Shawn Elliott may have a better feel for the zone-read part of the Gamecocks’ offense. None of that changes the fact, though, that I want the Head Ball Coach as my trigger man.

Spurrier spent as much time on the defensive side of the field last week in practice as he ever has at South Carolina. He was worried about his pass defense, and rightfully so. He won’t stray too far from the Gamecocks’ punt return team this week in practice. They’re ranked 112th nationally.

All this branching out that Spurrier is doing is well and good. There’s nothing wrong with being hands-on as a head coach. He’s the one who’s ultimately responsible.

Delegating is fine as long as you have the most qualified people in the right spots, and there’s nobody more qualified to call plays at South Carolina than Spurrier.

With so much at stake over these next few weeks, why tinker with one of the most proven products out there?

A thread was started like this against Oregon, Florida and Bama. It would be nice, but don't get your hopes up.

Yea, I wasn't thinking about that when I started this one.

on a side note, I did start a thread telling everyone that UGA was probably going to run all over us. I like being realistic and I do expect us to lose Saturday but I think that this does smell of an upset. JMO

I think that SC doesn't play well under expectations and that factor can get heavy if their down at the half.

Now if SC lost last week then I don't think we have a chance. If we can catch them on their toes for a quarter or two then we might smell blood and fight for that win.

This is hard to say, but Tennessee will need Carolina to help them big time. Tennessee doesn't have a QB that can take a team on his shoulders and win. In fairness the play calling hasn't helped the guy out much. Pretty much Tennessee doesn't have enough to win a game on the road against a quality opponent, that's the painful truth.

I'm looking at November to be a better gauge of were they're at as a team and as a staff. We already know they don't stack up well against top shelf teams.

SC is so good against the run that this one is going to rest largely on the QB.

This.

If UT starts getting into a good rhythm throwing the ball, our secondary could have some problems. We've been blowing assignments in the secondary all season.

and I hate to say it, but we will have Lattimore back healthy and playing. Which is what we need for our running game.

I think if Carolina has 4+ turnovers TN will have a shot. Not likely but it could happen. It will be big how TN starts the game. If they can get up on Carolina, they may say "here we go again with the late season slide." Plus TN will want it more if its close at the end.

As you can see from Bmccall's post, the Carolina fans actually treat Lattimore like we joke about Rod Wilks. They think he is superman, can see through walls, pregnate women with his mind, etc.

It's time for Lattimore to play like a freshman and put the ball on the ground multiple times in a game - Saturday could be that day. He is coming back lame from injury.

I don't think anything. But its clear from playing this year that he is our best RB.

We couldn't stop Richardson, Ingram, and Jones. What makes you think we can stop Lattimore and Jeffrey?

Because #1 Lattimore isn't Ingram or for that matter Richardson. #2 We prob have no answer to Jeffrey. We just have to sit back and hold on. Maybe Gordon, Teague, Oliver, or Evans will actually step up. Our safeties really have to play their butts off.
