I Think Jarrett Guarantano is Trying to Tell us Something ...

What was Dabo's HC experience before Clemson?

None, but he'd been at Clemson for 7 years when he took over as HC there. Even then he was failing and close to getting fired after going 6-6 in is second season. He went out and hired away Chad Morris because he knew he needed a brilliant mind designing his offense. He got that in Morris and saved his job by handing the offense entirely over to him.

Now, go out and look at most other coaches who take over with no HC experience and I'd wager they don't have a great track record. Especially guys with almost no coordinator experience. Tee didn't even get to call plays last year and this year he wasn't allowed to call plays on 3rd down. USC's offense didn't really improve at all under Tee either. They scored 34 a game the year before he took over, 34 his first year and 34 this year.

Fulmer talked up experience and gray hair at the press conference.

Not about to get my hopes up for Martin.

Then that knocks out Peyton for all you crazy Vol Nation fans who think he is going to come back here and coach.:eek:lol::dance2::rock:

More experienced than the big forehead, who people had been clamoring to coach us for years.

You people need to stop this pathetic crap. Denigrating Peyton Manning, one of Tennessee's all-time greatest heroes, by making fun of his looks is utterly pathetic. I don't give a sh*t what you've done in your life, Perico; Manning has done far more than you have. I don't see anyone talking about you on a message board, except me right here, and it isn't a good look. Stop acting like a high-school kid who hasn't grown up enough to know that you don't make fun of people's physical appearance. And stop bashing PM. He's done far more for UT football than you ever will.

Tee is not that type of guy to be a head coach at this level. That simple. He had his chance to be a stand up guy with two kids in Knoxville when Butch offered him a job. He choose to not be involved in his kid's life and stay in Los Angeles. Doesn't sound like a quality guy anyway.

You an insider? Family member? How do you know he hasnt been in his kid's life? Just asking. How did being the wide reciever coach work out for the two guys who did work for butch? Azzani jumped as soon as he had a decent offer.

I just think at this point the deck would be too stacked against him. If he had head coaching experience then fine. Or even if he were a coordinator being promoted here. He has no experience and would be coming into a dumpster fire, I don't call that giving him a chance. I call it setting him up to fail.

This!!! All day long. Tee is one of my favorite VOLS ever. I like him too much to throw him into the mixup we have now. I want him to succeed wherever he goes. I do like him for our next coach after whoever Fulmer hires now. Give Tee a head coaching job at a school that's not the blown up pressure cooker we have now.

Just give the man an interview if he doesn't interview well so be it move on to the next candidate but he bled orange for ut and he hasn't even been called and oh yeah he won us the only national championship in my lifetime

Turning down an offensive coordinator job at UT and taking one at USC is "bleeding orange?"

Maybe he saw through Butch's BS in the interview. I don't know how anyone can sit here with hindsight and not understand why Tee would turn down that job with that staff.

Besides his snide remarks, Peyton has much more offensive experience than Tee, through his facing numerous and much more sophisticated defenses than Martin ever has. He has also supported his alma mater more than Tee has or ever will.

What if Tee was made the new HC and he couldn't cut it? How many seasons would he be allowed to limp along because he's a VFL? I think I prefer a hired gun who would earn his VFL stripes on the field as a coach - not the past. If he doesn't do it, no love lost. It is, after all, a business.

just ask Jay Graham...:)

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the same job at USC, but he played QB at Tennessee in 98. Should be enough.

No. It's not, and it shouldn't be.

I all for VFLs and love Tee, but it would be doing UT and him a disservice if we gave him the job just because he played QB for UT 20 years ago.

He needs to be set up for success. If he cares about UT and his relationship with the fans, he'll understand if we refuse to give him the job if we think he's not ready for it.

You want people viewing Tee like they view Butch? Hire him into a failing scenario and see how it works out.
