to ask if Cuonzo Martin can write up a must have set play. Based on the many opportunities he's had to date, including T/O's called at the end of a half, the answer is no.

That was a horrible call to go to Stokes on the final possession.

McRae and Richardson were having loads of success driving and scoring on those last few possessions. So naturally you call a play for Stokes to get the ball 15 feet away from the rim going against the guy who basically owned him all night?

Feel bad for the guys.

Agreed.

Nevertheless, these guys exceeded my expectations for sure. I think McRae or Richardson taking it to the hole would have been a much better call, but proud of the team.

I'm fairly certain the ball was not gonna be shot by Stokes. They were looking for him to get doubled and someone cut. He actually got doubled too.

You clearly don't have a clue about basketball. That was a play that 9 out of 10 times gets you 2 ft's to win the game - most of the time refs will give that advantage to the star offensive player and the way Stokes has been shooting them in the tournament it was a logical play to call. McRae was hot in the second half - Michigan knew that so it was to be expected he would be double teamed during that last play.

Worked out well...

Did you not watch the end of the second A&M game?

I thought Stokes was going to dish it to Rich or McRae. Probably shouldn't have driven. Didn't have a problem with the call, but it was a very very unfortunate outcome.

This! If you go back and watch, McRae is wide open at the top of the key and the lane was wide open.

exactly... but Stokes didn't even look at McRae. He was given the green light and took it.

bad play call.

Now if he passes it, great call, brilliant call. But that wasn't the plan. Cuonzo called a 1 dimensional play and we didn't even get a shot up.

I feel for the kids.

OP, we don't have a more money play in the book than the ball in Stokes hands moving left to right across the lane with a size advantage against his man. That's a right handed baby hook for 2 and maybe the foul 9 times out of 10, the perfect play call down 1 with the ball OB off the left block.

The surprise double team was what blew it up, but even then, JS didn't lower his shoulder so much as turn it sideways to split the double team. He did try to make himself a little smaller to squeeze through the double but did not attempt to lower and ram his way through a player in such a way that would warrant an offensive foul. That was just a flop and the ref bought it.

TL; dr... OP is wrong wrong wrong

Good? Try poor

Your knowledge of basketball can be held in a thimble. Please stop posting you are embarrasing yourself. We get it, you don't like Coach Martin, but hopefully he will be back with a large raise and multi year extension and you will have a few more years to gripe and show your ignorance. SMDH
