I think everyone is overlooking the remainder of the season.

Don't get me wrong, this 4 game stretch that we're currently 2 games into is by far the biggest hurdle we have to over come, but it just seems like we're assuming that all the remaining games are 'gimmes' and they most certainly are not - especially when you consider the way this team has played down to its competition. If we can beat TAMU & Bama then the rest of the season is certainly ours to lose (we will be heavily favored in all games) but we shouldn't forget how narrowly we escaped SC last year and Mizzou looked pretty good against UGA, a team we beat by a miracle Hail Mary pass as time expired. Long season ahead - I hope our beloved Vols stay focused each week on the game ahead and nothing more. With that mindset we should continue to see spectacular results.

We are Tennessee fans. We know how things can go downhill quickly. The "one game at a time" mantra wasn't created by Butch. Most fans are zeroed in on the Alien Time Machines at the moment.

It's pretty simple when folks are proclaiming we will go 11-1 or 10-2 based on the next two games. They're saying the remaining 5 games are automatic W's

I think the next two games will tell us how much to worry. People are high on miracle wins. That will either continue or get a cold splash of water.

not volnation..just a few young guys who only follow winning teams. we win they jump on..we lose they jump off.

example is well known on this site. (D4H)

The irony is that if we win the next two games, Dobbs will get a serious look for Heisman. Of course he could never win since he plays for Tennessee, but he'd get a trip to NYC.

Most majority on here including myself ain't overlooking the rest of the season. This is the SEC and we should expect a competive game every weekend. We're sitting at 5-0 and we need to keep our momentum going by beating Texas A&M at College Station. Kentucky, Vandy, Missouri, South Carolina are games that we should win but it's never a sure thing until the clock hits 0:00.

However, I don't think Mizzou can beat Tennessee. Vandy, SC, and Kentucky have absolutely no chance.

History disagrees with you. On any given Saturday. I've watched UT lose to teams that simply had no shot to beat them. Happens every season all across the land. Some big boy sleep walks into a game against a clearly inferior team only to become an ESPN upset highlight. One game at a time and they have to come to play every Saturday.

I get what the OP means as far as fans overlooking. He's referring to the tone of the discussions on the message board.

See how the next 2 games play out. Either way, Tennessee may end up with only 2 losses in regular season and play in SECCG.

Florida has 2 difficult games remaining and at best they'll finish is 1-1.

Florida may lose to lsu, arkansas, and georgia. With 4 SEC losses, will their coach be under early heat??

Fans can overlook games. That's the beauty of it.

We can also drink during games, yell at the coaches, and eat pizza and fried chicken.

In the end, the fans only affect the environment of the stadium (which is probably motivating for the players).

So, next time someone is overlooking South Carolina don't worry. We may stay in a Holiday Inn, but we aren't college football players. Lol

I would like to edit my post to say that flag football during college doesn't count. Haha

IMO, he shouldn't be. They lost their starting QB to injury early in the season and that position lacked experience to begin with.

This thread is making much ado about nothing. We have atm on Sat. We have Bama the next. Then we start the downhill portion of the season which we must win. Everyone knows that and no one is over looking it. MO may be the absolute toughest game we play mentally. And the rest could be traps if we get lazy. Don't read anything into us concentrating on the next two weeks. You are hand wringing when you don't need to.

No one is overlooking it. Those games are a month away. We have our toughest game to date this week and most people are rightly focusing on that.

As to your point that VN is counting W's, that's because our team has no excuse losing any other game this season. We only have 1 true road game after TAMU, USCe. That's it. We get Mizzou, UK, TennTech, and Vandy at home.

Mizzou got railroaded by LSU on the road. They are not as good as people are trying to make them out to be. If we lose any of those games, it would be a complete and utter shock.

Yep, every weekend at least one team looses a game that was a given. So when people start counting eggs and assume they equal chickens, they are forgetting "on any given Saturday..."

in the sec title game, alabama will have about 80% of the fans but UT can pull the upset with a few turnovers!!

B4 the season even started many proclaimed 12-0, playoffs and a 'Natty'. Jumping the gun there?
