The honest truth is that our offense thrives with a smaller speedy back.

I remember last year when we still had Kamara and DeBord used Hurd instead on those outside runs. I think Hurd played about 70 percent of those downs. It's almost as if DeBord favored Hurd besides what was best for the team.

When we were forced to use Kamara instead of Hurd we became way more productive and now the coaches "finally see that"?

I know it's not right sometimes, but coaches will "push out" players who might get playing time elsewhere or might work better at a better system. Basketball programs are notorious about that.

You can't fault Hurd for wanting to play with different formations when he sees an opportunity to run better.

BS. Hurd ran for nearly 1300 yards last year....in this system. We were 9-4 losing by a combined 15 points, give or take one. Damn near the same team in tact. He. Quit.

I don't blame the coaches for Hurd walking out on his team.

I blame them for having the most talented team in recent history not ready to play each and every game this year.

Funny how Butch wants to talk about players holding each other "accountable", yet he doesn't hold his coaches accountable. Otherwise, Debord would be already gone.

A lot of people criticized Hurd when he shut his high school senior season down after what some called a minor injury.

Don't know how severe the injury was, but it does seem odd that he is bailing on what was supposed to have been his last year in Knoxville.

He has always been seen as the family's "ticket", and the me first attitude seems well rooted.

The major difference is the pressure of expectations. The team 120 was expected to contend for the SEC championship, with potential for the playoffs. The team lost something after Texas A&M and before Alabama (belief in themselves)

I blame the coaches 100% for Hurd. Why? Butch never should have recruited him if he was just going to waste his talents with a terrible scheme for him.

Yeah, but what coach would turn down a 5 star athlete who wanted to come to Tennessee? Especially considering how void of talent Tennessee was at the time.

He ran that much because he was getting the ball a lot. How many passing plays were called last year? How many plays called for Kamara last year?

If Hurd's ego was getting to him, than our coaches should've been able to know how to handle it. Handling the way it became is unacceptable. Also, the same with Preston Williams.

Something is off... and I bet it has to do with the coaches promising something and looking the other way.

His ego did get in the way and they handled it by giving him the ball more. They tried the same thing with Preston in the Appy game but all he did was whine about his TD being over turned. Hurd could have been something special this season but he slacked off during the off season and acted like he didn't want to be here. Then when game time came he was going against guys who busted their A all off season. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard

Know one knows what those conversations were about. If the coaches promised more touches or different plays and their names never get called then the players and coaches would never get a long no matter what.

True story. :: my best friend played Semi pro football as a WR. He was like an Eric Decker, Jordy Nelson.. In practices, he was constantly getting his named called. Deep balls and everything, but when game started his name was NEVER called. He eventually quit because of it.

He needs to fire his offense

I see all of these comments and I wonder if anyone has ever quit a job and went to another one. And don't tell me it's not the same, bosses employ you as a part of a team to be an instrument working towards a goal. When you quit, you quit on that team. Who the hell are any of you people to question what he thinks it's better for him? If you've ever quit a job to go to another for more money or to get out of a bad work situation, STFU because you are no better.

Coaches don't/can't have the team ready to play...every week...coaches fault

Hurd decides to leave...Hurd's fault
