Hear me out. Florida is riding high right now. They're openly suggesting they'll hang 60+ points on UT. Indirectly, they're equating UT as their WKU. Here's how they lose:

Confidence is great, over-confidence is not. Tennesse has confidence at the moment. Florida is over-confident. When you're over-confident, you attempt passes you wouldn't normally try. You protect the ball less than you normally would because you don't respect your opponent. You go for ball-strips instead of making sound tackles. You go for ill-advised INTs instead of making sound tackles. You try to exact a score, rather than win the game. Follow me?

The atmosphere is ripe for Florida to commit some of these very mistakes. Granted, the Vols have to play perfect ball and catch Florida in the mindset that I've just described. If Tennessee goes to the swamp and executes Kiffin's game plan, we may very well be "singing Rocky-Top all night long".

Doubtful.

If you kept tabs on Florida at all, you would see that the Florida players are one of the most cohesive hard working units at Florida in a long time. This team, with all of its coaching and veteran leadership, aren't going to overlook one of their main rivals. Especially after the Ole Miss debacle from last year. They are still talking about that, about how they want to play every game 100%.

No matter how homerish most of the fans are, you can pretty much count on the UF football team being fully prepared for Tennessee in week 3.

If that were to happen, the National Gaurd would have to be called into to stop the rioting, fires, looting, murders. Obama would have to appoint another Czar for the state of Florida. The world would be turned upside down and the Gators would never ever ever ever recover from it.

Florida will come prepared and will play hard. No one in the country will play like florida this year for every game.

God Bless.

This is why Florida loses to a bottom 6 in a shocker every year; because they're so "cohesive". I hear you.

I smell not a chance in hell. I'll offer valid reasoning just as you did.

Your offense is new and it's QB, Crompton, has been through three different systems with this being the newest. To add to that, he doesn't look like he has the brain power to manage more than a few memorized handoffs, much less what he's had to go through. Your WR corps is decimated and the idea of pulling defensive players, Wilks, and freshmen, Teague and Nuke, into their first SEC game, away, and at the Swamp certainly spells doom rather than success, albeit stranger things have happened.

Given all that, your offense must face a defense that could rival some of the better defenses in a long time. For you to win, you MUST score points and I just don't see that happening against a defense that held the most successful offense of ALL time, OU, to it's lowest point total and yards by a healthy margin.

Vis a vis, Florida's offense has to score points to win as well. 2 new OL and WRs must step up but those stepping into these positions have significant playing time already. I see you having a hard time, with your LB corps, of stopping our RBs as well as Aaron Hernandez in the open. Either way, we have some new people and y'alls best side of the ball is defense by far.

Florida 42 - Tennessee 20

Next to beating bama nothing would please me more than beating Florida and ruining their season.

With that said, if you are smelling upset, check out an E.N.T. in the Knoxville area, you may have a nose problem.

Of course it is a game and anything could happen.

We're talking about 2009. Every year is different.

Plus, last year, UF lost to a 9-4 team, not some scrub.

Look at 2006, UF only lost one game to an 11-2 team.

Do some research before you post please.

Even as an optimist I am not expecting a win, however I would bet on us winning before I would bet on them hanging 60 points on our defense. I'm seeing something like 31-14 UF. Hate to say it

Florida's fans may be overconfident, but UM will probably have his team primed for us.

Thank you. There is a big difference between overconfident homer fans and an overconfident football team.

The senior leaders will keep this team grounded. Assuming the coaches can't. But history says UF will be ready for their rival. Meyer is what, 11-1 in 4 years against UF's 3 main rivals?

I had a cool dream last night. It was us upsetting UF in the swamp. Now if I can only make my dream reality...

Tennessee doesnt have to be the best team in the nation the day they play florida they just have to be the best team on the field that day.

I pray you are right and they make a lot of mistakes because of being so full of themselves. Every year the Florida game is on the Saturday near my BD. I have had a lot of sad BDs lately, I would love to celebrate all night with "Rocky Top" GO VOLS

Research will also show you that Florida has never gone undefeated. They will lose to at least one team this year.

Well since you want to cherry pick your "research" you omitted 2007 when they lost to LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan and barely escaped Kentucky.

Your "not a scrub" Ole Miss lost to Wake Forest, Vandy, and South Carolina last year. THEY WERE/ARE scrubs.

Do some research before you post.

2 of the losses in 2007 were to BCS bowl teams. But whatever. Every team has a bad year. 9-4 for UF is bad. For Tennessee, that mark is 5-7 I guess.

Also, I wasn't cherry picking. You said UF loses to some scrub every year. I just clearly showed you that they don't by picking two recent years that prove my point.

And come on people. Just because UF has never gone undefeated doesn't mean that they can't. But they probably don't have to go undefeated to win a title, so the point is moot.

I think someone surprises UF but I don't think it will be the Vols. The lockeroom talk is reported to be about going undefeated this year. I don't think winning is ever a forgone conclusion. That mentality could bite them in the butt.
