I Say We Upset Bama or Ole Miss in 09'

There is always a chance. Look at what Villinova did in the NCAA Championship against Georgetown in the mid 80's. Ole Miss found a way to beat Fla a couple of times over the past 10 years. Did we have a chance to come back on ND in the 91 game? Did we have a chance at halftime of the 05 LSU game? What if Berry picks Tebow 3 times and takes 2 of them to the house along with a special teams score and a couple of more turnovers by Fla and a ball controlled/time consuming effort by our offense. We do this, and I guarantee that we have a good chance. While I wouldn't bet on this one, I do think that the pressure will be on Fla to blow us out and that could be something in our favor. Who knows? That's why they play the games.

You're Tennessee. Bama won't overlook you. OTOH, the schedule works in your favor for the Bama game. TN has an open date prior to Bama; Bama catches TN at the end of an 8-week run with no breaks.

The reverse is true for Ole Miss. They catch you in Oxford and they'll be coming off an open date. I haven't yet bought into all the Ole Miss hype, but they have the 2nd best QB in the league and I expect them to be good. Tough for TN to bring home the win in Oxford. This year.

Oh the days when it wouldn't be imaginable that us beating Ole Miss was an "upset."
Exactly, the only time "upset" should be used in a sentence with "ole miss" would be on their boards and them talking about the Tennessee game. That said, that's gonna be a tough game.

Going into the season our 4 games that we are "suppose" to lose to are florida, georgia, ole miss, and bama. All that could very well change once the season gets under way. I think the only game we should for sure be predicted to lose is to FL. We can still beat them. The other 3 teams have too many unknowns(just as we do) and the games and/or seasons could go either way.

some of us are still in those days. I won't consider beating OM an upset unless they are undefeated and ranked #1 in the country. Even then it will be close

If any fanbase in the country should know not to buy into preseason hype it's UT fans.

Whats with this no chance stuff???? Theres always gonna be a chance. You gotta believe in this team a lot more than that. I know we had a bad season LAST YEAR, but this staff just may be able to get the players so pumped they may pull an upset over Florida.

Stay away from those paint chips. :)

I don't see why people won't give Ole Miss any respect.

I don't think it's a respect issue more so a hype issue. Most publications have them as high as top 5, for what preseason publications are worth. There's no doubt they were a good team last year but there's only so much you can say after you lose to Vandy and South Carolina, even if you DID beat Florida. I think they deserve the hype but I think the hype they're getting may be too much.

My $.02

I'm sorry, but Tennessee beating Ole Miss is not an upset.

As for folks talking like we have already lost games, I get so tired of that. We have just as good a shot at winning each game as the teams we will line up across from. We are Tennessee, not Vandy. We don't count losses before the season starts.

The complacency of the previous staff coupled with the pathetic offensive scheme they tried to implement had more to do with the on the field product than anything. Our talent level is not as far of as some of you think.

Theres always a chance,I guess. But you cant expect me to go around tellin' everybody that. Come on man!!:)

You know what's really going to suck? (for you I mean)

You all getting all of these 5 star recruits and then none of the games you win in the next 5 years counting because of probation :eek:lol:

Do you really think there is no chance or is that just smack talk since you are a bama fan?

That is an honest question. I am just curious.

I think UT has a better shot of beating Bama than it does Ole Miss, upset or not. It's only an upset if they're ranked higher than UT when the game is played out. There's a lot of time between then and now.

LOL, I understand.

I actaully think it will be a pretty tight, defensive struggle type of game. I obviously give you guys the upper hand, but I am holding out hope for the upset.

I think it may be one of those games where a turnover or special teams play may prove to be the difference.

I will take either win, but Bama is obviously the one we want.
