feeling like Oregon State fans feel right now. You could see the excitement in their fanbase last night on TV. That stadium was ELECTRIC!

The early 90's were a fun time for Vol fans. We weren't quite yet the National Power we would become....but were climbing the ladder. We seemed to work harder than everyone else.....we were frequently better coached.....and we played the spoiler to many higher ranked teams on our way back up. I almost enjoyed that era, and that role more than the championship years.

I hope we are on the verge of that type of transformation again. We certainly can't go anywhere but up. Hopefully we can get a coach that can infuse some excitement back into the Big Orange......because this has gotten boring.

I don't ever want the joy of being a huge dog at home and winning again. Never freaking ever.

I just want to win too. The Auburn game would be a good start. Actually it is almost a must.

I said ALMOST. I just miss the excitement. The program has slid so far that it has ceased to be fun anymore. We need new life, new blood, to make this enjoyable again.

Probably should have kept these thoughts to myself.

I understand what you were saying, but I'm just tired of being viewed like OSU. Big dogs at home typically suck, a lot.

I am all for a house cleaning, the old regime needs to go. Fulmer, Chavis, Slade, Brooks, Caldwell. They all need to go, come back in a couple of years for a homecoming halftime show and be honored by the fans. We need new blood, Clawson, Scott and Drayton should get a pass on this year though imo. I hope whoever the new coach is (if we get one) keeps those guys on staff for at least another season.

i completely understand what you are saying.

it was fun. it was fun when we were nationally relevant. it was fun winning SEC titles 5 times from 1985 to 1998.

Watching the game last night I was struck by the simplicity of the gameplan that OSU employed. They RAN the ball.....then they RAN it some more. And after that...you guessed it....they ran it. They ran up the middle, around the end....they were dedicated to the thought of being physical.

THAT is what I remember about TN football in the early 90's. You might have been better than us on paper, but you were leaving the 4th quarter sore, bleeding, and with the knowledge that you had been in a fight. We frequently imposed our will, on the ground, and at the line of scrimmage.

That is what I saw last night, and as I think about it, that is what I am nostalgic for, and truly miss the most.

We don't have the running back's we did back then though. I may be wrong but I dont see James "little man" stewart, cobb-webb, lewis, etc. coming through the door when I look at this team.

Not to mention the linemen. We never out-talented anyone.....but the effort and execution were always there. The players we had always seemed proud to play here.

contribute that with a nasty defense and we had some success in the 90s. i think we are always a step slow on the defense side of the ball. we will be back though.

Why keep them to yourself? You are just expressing the same thoughts as the majority of the fan base. That is why something HAS to be done. Apathy is way worse than being pissed.

Foolmer is killing the heart and soul of this program. That is why the administration may take note this time around. Apathetic fans don't buy tickets, t-shirts, etc.

I was too. As a matter of fact, the entire scene was something to behold. I miss that feeling, and want it back.

Well, to get that feeling we need to suck royally for around 20 years. Go to Happy Valley and get torched by 35. Come back home, play on a thursday against a team that has overlooked us, pull the upset then go on to lose around 4 of our last 8.

Do you really want that feeling?
