I Remember.......

I remember when my Dad put in cedar post and barb wire fence on the piece of land he owned in the country off Island Home Pike. That was well over a half century ago. Closer to 64 years, probably. I drove by there today and the post are still in place with the rusted barb wire. Recognized the exact post I jumped from and hung my blue jeans on the barb wire. Dad had to come rescue me because I was hanging about two feet off the ground.

That's good stuff. I was reading an article the other day and it showed spots in Europe on d-day and then how they looked today. Oh the stories that places hold, sacred stories that go untold.

I remember when driving into Knoxville from the north via US11W and reaching Magnolia Ave. and thinking we were in a big city. Things have changed.

Have you read about some of the graves at Normandy being washed out to sea because of the rising sea levels?

I remember when winning only 8 or 9 football games gave fans quite a stir. Now we have fans having orgasms at the thought of winning one more than we lose and going to some **** bowl like the Liberty Bowl. Or, the Music City Bowl or name your trash bowl here.

wish I had more than one like for this

Thanks, Arky. It's just how it was. I saw one poster that said we should have fired Fulmer two years earlier. I asked if he meant the year we went 9-4? Haven't seen the answer yet.

it's crazy how far we've sank the last 6 years

Yeah, UT fired a NC winning, HOF coach with two bad sesons bookended around a 9-4 and a 10-4 season, then I can't rah rah any new coach with losing seasons. Just my opinion which doesn't matter. I'm just a frustrated old codger.

I remember riding in a little Red wagon as Gpa pulled us down to the pond to go fishing.

I don't ever remember not having a computer in the house but I do remember when it took 5 minutes to load a couple of webpages.

I remember when Knoxville pretty much ended going West at Westen Plaza. From that point, it was mostly pastures and open land 'til you got to Dixie Lee junction. A big fireworks building there and nothing from there to Lenoir City.

I also remember when you could work on a car/truck without a computer all we need back then was wire pliers and hay bailing wire

Why would anyone do that?

I did it once (out of stupidity)that is how I know :whistling:

I was about 15 and working in a service station that still had a mechanic on duty, he was working on this car and told me to put a battery in it to test it. I soon learned that 6 volts is not the same as 12 LOL.......

He made me replace all the fuses... seems like it blew them all and the lights inside along with it... didn't get the headlights because they were turned off...

He was angry but did not fire me

I blew the side out of a 12 volt one night. Buddy's 57 wouldn't start. He asked me for a jump. Both cars were 12 volts. We hooked it up and I started my car. His wasn't cranking so I walked to the front of my to adjust the cables. Then, walked to his to readjust the connections there. Twisted the hot cable and blam. The battery blew out the side opposite from where I was standing. Never jumped a car since.

I remember when political correctness wasn't considered a bad thing. It's been around all my life. It used to be called respect and courtesy until someone decided to flavor the meaning.
