I really wanted the Vols to win, but not with a last second field goal

The really unfortunate part for these kids on the team is that they put themselves in a position to win and their coach screwed it all up for them. His constant excuse making is leaching into the program now and will have devastating effects on future game results.

I wanted Tennessee to win that game more than all of you combined, however now that I've had time to cool down and really think about it more, I realize this:

If that field goal had been good, it would have covered up the fact that our coach nearly blew the game all by himself. He would have been given an automatic pass by the sunshine pumping brigade. I'm sort of glad that now we can address the problem instead of making excuses for it.

UT is going to have to rebuild now. We are a national embarrassment. It's best that we just get on with it now instead of letting the stink linger in the air.

Meanwhile Jim Mcelwain, who is a first year head coach rebuilding a broken program is enjoying an undefeated season with a freshman QB who has no respect for Tennessee football at all.

At Florida they expect success and their fans don't make excuses, they just feel sorry for us rather than respect us.

I said the exact same thing. Vol fans wouldn't have been happy either way. We lost, everyone is pissed. We win by a mere field goal, people are still pissed because we should've beat the brakes off them.

Maybe now we'll lose out the rest of the season. Just imagine how much better we'll be after that!

I disagree 100%. A WIN is a WIN...I can't wait till we get back to expecting that...

No sane person could say that we are fit to beat anyone but Vandy at this point.

I can't wait to see you folks slowly realize what the rest of us already see.

Once we lose to arkansas in am embarrassing way, you'll move a little closer.

But I suspect you will be just like the Dooley supporters and it will take us losing to Kentucky in Lexington this year before your brain catches up to mine.

win or lose Clay Travis would have still written his article and I would agree 100% either way. "humming rocky top while gargling liquid Drano."

Maybe a little off subject for this thread, but sadly, this will be the least talented UF team we will face for many years to come. With talent levels all else equal, we will continue to lose to UF if we don't stop getting out coached. I love what Butch has done to upgrade the talent level at our program but ya gots ta make good coaching decisions. You can no longer SIT on a lead in college football and go three and out because of stupid conservative play calling. You keep giving even a mediocre team the ball over and over and they will find a way to score points. And we've got a hand full of FIVE STAR RECEIVERS who are being grossly underutilized. That's inexcusable. If you were a big time receiver recruit, would YOU want to come to UT right now? Not even ONE receiver has a hundred yards total for the year and that's just crazy.
