I predict the Butch Jones saga will end like the.....

I know.

I'd have given the dude a one-year sabbatical. Told him to go get his head straight, get re-energized, then come back if he thought he was ready. Asked Chief to serve as one-year interim head coach.

We should not have gotten rid of Phil entirely. Bad, bad decision and we've been paying for it ever since.

Was telling a friend this the other day we fire one of the most loyal coaches and one of the most winning coaches and expect to hire a " top guy" Who would want the job after they treat someone who loved and had strong ties to the program like they did?

You don't keep a coach around because of loyalty and loving the vols if tgey aren't meeting expectations

Fulmer fans rode that NC out.

We were in it when they fired Fulmer

It's not the fact they fired Fulmer its the way they fired him, let the man bow out gracefully and then find a top notch coach but instead they humiliated him and then hired Kiffen who could care less as long as there's coeds involved

The mistake wasn't firing Fulmer. The mistake was not letting Kippy Brown run the show while you took your time and performed a competent coaching search after Lane left.

This. I'd have even been happy with letting Kippy be an interim coach for the whole 2010 season while we found the right guy. Heck, three years of Kippy would have been preferable to Dooley.

.....Bill Curry coaching tenure at Alabama. He will bolt after this year to another school. He has lost the fan base and it will only get more ugly. (Hopefully no deranged Vol fan will throw a brick thru his window like the did to Curry). So you people who want a coaching change, root for Butch to win big this year, so a Michigan State or a Notre Dame comes calling.

Mich St? They're not firing Dantonio. But I'd love to see him here.

Butch Jones is his own worst enemy, Butch will take care of Butch by default, with his many excuses and cliches

Butch Jones is not the answer at Tennessee, long or short term, unfortunately:good!:

Not if but when Butch finally gets canned he will never have another head coaching job in D1 football ever again.

Butch would land some job no matter if he left (on his own) or got fired; most likely he would land the same type of job no matter which way he left. Butch will not "just leave" because that would cost him millions.......and the same type of job would still be had.

I disagree wholeheartedly that Butch will be capable of landing anything close to a D1 head coaching job after his time at Tennessee ends they way its about to end. He will end up like Dooley not like Kiffin.

LOL, I didn't say he would end of getting a great job or even a D1 job. Butch took a Tennessee program which was in a dumpster fire, and got us to at least winning, and winning bowls.........you can bet some teams like UMass, Charlotte, Kent ST and others would jump at the chance for Butch Jones.

Bama ended up with a national championship 3 seasons after Curry left town.

Might have ended up with one had curry stayed.

Three years at Bama:
7-5
9-3
10-2 (Including the bowl loss)

Improved year over year. Didn't exactly blow. they just didn't like or want Curry for whatever reason.

He wasn't one of Bear's boys...he was never accepted...and going 0-3 to Auburn was the icing on the cake...they still hate him down here...

Not saying it's ok but there was a time when a brick through a window was common. If a couple boys are fighting in the parking lot, nobody should call the cops. Now days everyone is soft. And I'm not old.

In Battle's case it was having a moving truck pull up to your house in Knoxville...lol.
