will come to Knoxville ranked #1. Texas is going to beat Oklahoma next Saturday.

The Red River shoot out could very well be the best game of the season this year. I have an invite and if I can change a few things I will be there.

wrapping up to be one of the best spoiler seasons ever (potentially). not that I like the thought of being a spoiler. Imagine this. Bama comes in as #1 and we get Vandy with their highest ranking in a lifetime and they get beat by unranked under achieving Tennessee. Can you imagine the amount of redemption this team could achieve.

Again, I am not saying I like the idea of being a spoiler, but since we're here. I'd like to get a copy of a Vandy DVD after a season like that.

For me, it would be a toss up between the Red River shoot out or Saban vs. LSU in Baton Rouge. LSU fans dislike Bama but they HATE Saban. Chants of "we want Saban" have been heard around since the start of the season.

Could be. But the OU/TX game is an old school rivalry with national appeal. But both will be good games. Saban will ge the loudest boo of the season when he trots out on the field at the Red Stick.

I don't think anyone gets OU this year. Of course, after the way they demolished tOSU, I thought the same thing about USC.

We might win one game in the sec, but you know how Miss St always wins an SEC game that they shouldnt which means they will probably get us too. Can you imagine us going 0 for in the sec? OMG:eek:

I'll give it to Oklahoma. You're king of the mountain until someone takes you down.

Just found the information. Tennessee has played #1 8 times, and is 2-6 in those eight games. The wins came against LSU in '59 and Auburn in '85; the losses were against Bama in '79 & '80, Notre Dame in '90, Florida in '94 & '97, and Miami in '02.

I think ut will play bama tough, but lose due a lack of talent and some coaching gaps. Bama may run the table---I think they could beat OU or Texas.

Bama will put us behind the woodshed. We are not a good football team from any standpoint of the game.

They should have done the same with KY yesterday. What was their excuse??

Great teams have off games every year. I can't see them playing UT with such a lackluster effort. It's a rivalry game and I have to think they'll be ready to administer a beating.

Maybe so, but I would be willing to give them the off day pass if they were at Kentucky. They were at home, so like I said what was the excuse?? Is KY's front 4 that good??

I wouldn't call it lackluster so much as boneheaded. Between penalties and turnovers and busted plays, they let a team with no offense hang around.

They also had the game in hand without any significant worries for about 59:30, and, most importantly, won. I'm not ready to crown Bama as "great" only 1/3 of the way through the season, but a handy win (until the final seconds) over a conference foe in a situation screaming for a hangover after the UGa spanking shouldn't diminish anything.

Oklahoma won't lose until Mizzou beats them in the Big 12 title game....and *if* we beat bama I won't shut up to bama fans in this state for a while haha

I didn't proclaim them great, either. I just wanted to point out that one close game doesn't mean a team isn't great.

That's a big if. I hope you get the chance to not shut up but I wouldn't bet any money on it.

Bama was flat and overconfident yesterday after that uga blowout last week. Saban will get them back next week to a higher level and they should blow out ole miss. Hopefully, they get overconfident again when they come to Knoxville.
