We are one step away.
This year we have been in control and let two games slip away. Last year, we're were like "We were in that game". Before that, we we got whipped.

The improvement has happened one more step to winning all the games. Starting with these Hogs!
GO VOLS! Beat the Hogs!

We could have been, we're literally two 4th downs from being 4-0, but 10-2 just isn't very likely in our current scenario.

Now this is the kind of optimism I can get behind

And push off a cliff :) My 9-3 is out but 8-4 is still obtainable, while 7-5 is likely unfortunately.

Exactly, we are good enough to be 4-0, and that's why we are going to run the table.

If we go 10-2 I'll be happy but I'll still be that guy that goes "we should of been 12-0" haha

i used to smoke dat **** mayn.

weve gotten better is so many key areas. but our weaknesses are still glarin and unfortunately everyone else is good in the areas were bad in.

WR is supposed to be a strength, as is Rb and QB. Ive not been impressed with any of them. at all. period. and again. OL recruiting and lack of execution is on the coaches. there should be 0 excuse that this offense cannot execute against even Florida, Oklahoma, or any SEC team. totall bull**** excuse to say otherwise.

I don't understand the "don't get your hopes up" crowd. We were all equally mad and sad about the losses- so why not get your hopes up. More fun on my side of the fence.

Because most people don't like being let down. And UT football is the king of letting people down the last 10+ years

The talent is there but the coaching is not. Things can change and I hope they do, but until I see a FULL game put together by this coaching staff it's hard to be optimistic anymore. Hoping for best and expecting not the best. GO VOLS!

And if we lose again this year, it'll be "Fire Butch", "Nut up and win some games!" like some of the other posters here. Not taking a shot at you OP, but temper the expectations just a little cause we got to learn how to win some close game yet and the coaches have to learn how to coach to win close games!

If Jones loses to a 1-3 Arkansas team at home, he honestly has no business here. If you disagree you accept mediocrity and that's embarassing.

Dude....I hope you are right. However, what scares me the most is the coaching staff.....didn't someone once call them the "best staff in college"? Can't quite remember who that was...seems he was a short fellow with a crew cut and a very red face....hmmmmm.

At this point, I ain't buying what Butch is selling. And that really really hurts me because I believed he was the ONE to take us back to the mountain top. However, I do believe in 2nd chances. With that being said, if he flubs it against the Hogs I will cut my Butch Please shirt to shreds and mail it to him at UT...with a note suggesting what he can do with it. GO VOLS!!! :clapping:

I'm not saying that CBJ, doesn't remind me of Sargent Carter.

I'm just that we are closer than most realize.

Typical straw man of accepting mediocrity! I don't accept mediocrity! I never have! Firing a coach that made us the most competitive we've been in 6 years is not good idea unless he proves that he is over his head and starts losing to teams he has no business losing to (see Kentucky and keeping Troy close!). I wanted Dooley fired after that Kentucky loss, but some on here still thought he could coach! If he loses to Arkansas it may have me reevaluate him. Some of you have unrealistic expectations at the start of the season and were let down because of the WAY WE LOST! Jones and the team had both games won, but forgot to finish out the game. It happens to every coach at some point! Just take a look back at some of the coaches in the past. Majors was a master at it! I have said numerous times that is concerning, but he needs to figure it out and call the games like he called the Georgia games the last couple of years. If he proves he can't do that say this year and maybe next (big if depending on the record. 8-4 is par) some changes need to be made to his staff. Next year if he doesn't beat Florida and win 9-10 then maybe he's not the guy.
