I Now Agree KNS Sucks!

I can see how you would feel that way about Oku, he has had a long time to sign with us. But BB was never in the picture with us until recently and everything i have heard from people that know him personally say he is very humble and respectful and has been well raised. His family has already came out said that they would do things differently if they knew how it was to turn out. BB also said a day or two after his visit here he was ready for it to be over, i cant exactly hold that against him.

I just think you jump to conclusions if you assume that either of these kids are bad kids.

And on the OP, the KNS is struggling to be relevant. So take everything they put out with a grain of salt.

Actually I do not think we will have to worry about the KNS for very much longer, at least in its current format. Newspapers all over the country are going under. Over the last several months the KNS has removed entire sections of the paper, adjusted its format in an effort to become more streamlined and save money. As far as the "journalist" in the sports section they could do better. Hooker's facts are all most always wrong, particularly when he mentions the class of a player. Adams is OK even if I disagree with his opinions. The one I have the biggest problem with is Griffith. He is a complete homer. What ever team he covers, wether basketball or football, he seems to fall in love with the coaches and that totally blows his objectivity. I think Strange is by far my favorite to read.
Anyone who would not take either or both of this backs is a complete embisile. For someone to think that Oku is the first "head case" that our coaches have seen or recruited, that he is unique in some way, that is crazy. The majority of kids that hold offers from several D-1 schools have been pampered for many moons. It happens to effect different people in different ways, but the head coaches main job is to take the prima donnas, the blue collar guys, the smart guys, and the Cromptons and build and maintain chemistry. With as much talent as these two have, as long as niether of this guys are criminals, any coach in the world would take them.

I know it kills me. I don't feel like they are really fans of our program. I get the vibe that they are sportswriters who just happen to work in Knoxville. I want real fans writing about our teams.

Well, unfortunately that's what "journalism" is about. They're not supposed to be a fan any team--especially the one they cover. That's how they stay objective. I will say KNS isn't very objective though because they do take the negativity to a whole new level.

Yeah, I guess you're right. The negativity just gets on my nerves.

thread starter = UTAD sheep

Anything that is negative against UT, means it is a bad article. If you will remember, the kns is the paper that published that letter of support for Fulmer during the 2007 season. The articles attacking the new staff are debatable, but Adams taking a shot at Fulmer was one of the few bright spots, imo. If you were attacking Jimmy Hyams, that would be one thing, because he actually does suck.

Amen. Although I no longer live in Tennessee and have not recently subscribed to the Knoxville News Sentinel, my father lives there, has been a subscriber for decades ... but recently cancelled his. Way to go, Dad!

They also let Fulmer have the front page with an article of his own after the whole Pennington fiasco.

You mean Adams fiasco?

It's not unreasonable to think that on a site named GOVOLS.COM, a UT fan could expect to feel like he was among friends. Maybe they should more honestly rename their site, DONTCAREIFVOLSLIVEORDIE.COM.
