I have read GoVolsExtra.com daily for a couple of years now and I have to say they blow. When I first started getting news off the KNS website, I would notice people trashing the writers on the message boards, and I really didn't get why. That was until Adams wrote the piece trashing Fulmer which I thought was classless. After that I steadily became more and more uninterested in what they had to say as far a opinion pieces go. Then came Hookers story a few days ago about Bryce Brown's mentor Butler. The piece where he trashed Butler because he couldn't speak with Brown about his visit. Seriously, does he not want us to get Brown or Oku? Why would he rip the guy who is ultimatley going to make the decision as to where the two go school, like him or not. Sorry you got your feelings hurt Dave but SHUT UP! Also, whats up with all the articles they have written collectively trashing our new coaching staff? Why is the Knoxville media behaving like the national media? It's absolutley ridiculous! It's gotten to the point where it pains me just to get the most basic updates from the site because of the garbage and bitching that comes with it. Anyways, screw KNS and thanks for letting me vent. I'd rather get news from you guys anytime. GO VOLS!!

Oku and Brown are head cases. They will be more of a distraction then a benefit to whatever team they join. I hope they go elsewhere.

Ah, this is a very dumb post.. You know both of these kids personally? If a coach cant control kids with big heads he will never make it as a coach in the first place. I like to believe we have some leaders on this team (EB) that will help straighten these kids out. Not wanting the best back or the best APB in the country to come to your team is crazy.

Also when we lose a recruit to another school, even one that we weren't really in on or was considering MULTIPLE schools, we always "missed" on that prospect. I get being objective, I really do, but sometimes it seems those guys over at KNS are gloating at our misfortune. It's awful.

So you just want the KNS to be pretty much a mouthpiece for the UT athletic department?

You should probably just sign up for Mike Hamilton's email newsletter and leave it at that.

I know it kills me. I don't feel like they are really fans of our program. I get the vibe that they are sportswriters who just happen to work in Knoxville. I want real fans writing about our teams.

I'm not saying there's no validity to the claim that KNS is against the new staff, but it's the same outcry that I hear in Atlanta about the AJC. Because UGA and Georgia Tech are so close together they each think that the paper is biased against their athletic team. There is bias, but not 100% in one direction.

It's not even that for me. I don't expect a homer viewpoint from the media, just report stuff objectively - not like it's the end of the world for UT every time anything bad happens. There is a balance there and the line is not that hard to walk.

You question my assessment of these two recruits (calling it dumb) and then essentially agree with me by mentioning all the people that can straighten these two out?....

Now, that is the definition of brilliance.

It's called GOVOLSEXTRA FOR CHRIST'S SAKE! If I want to hear the media trash Coach Kiffin and his staff I'll watch ESPN. The negatives far outweigh the positives and it gets old. If there's a scandal within the athletic department, major recruiting violation, player dismissed or something along those lines then yeah tell me about it. I don't know about you but I don't want the best player in the country to get on the web and see our local media trashing him and his mentor. It's stupid. I guess you don't get that though.

I was talking about kids having big heads. You talk about these kids like you know them, which you dont, like they will destroy the program or something. That is dumb.

GoVolsXtra.com/ Knox News Sentinel's main goal is to get readers and have a large diverse demographic to show to their possible advertising clients.

Fluff stories on Tennessee sports doesn't achieve this. I understand you're venting, but understand it's a business first and the masses flock to the news that doesn't have their team in a positive light.

I bet Finebalm (sp) has more traffic online from East Tennessee than in Alabama here recently.

See, the KNS is a newspaper. At newspapers they do this thing called journalism. Part of journalism is the notion of objectivity. The guys who write for the KNS are not fans; they're not cheerleaders. Their jobs are supposed to be to tell what they think is the truth and to sell newspapers (or generate page views), in that order. Doing PR for the UTAD is not supposed to be one of their goals.

I do agree that it seems clear that some of the KNS writers are taking a much more aggressive stance towards the new regime than they did the previous one. I assume that's because the gravy train is over, and these guys are starting to actually have to do real reporting again in order to have any material to write. I'm not really defending the quality of the writing in the KNS, which is a minor-league paper in a minor-league city, but this is the way that journalism is supposed to work.

Cry me a river , kid!!! Deal with it!!! It's called life!! No one is going to completely agree with your biased view either. So stop whining!!! You can't do anything about it anyway. What are you going to do, go down there and tell them to stop writing negative stuff. You might as well tell them to stop writing positive stuff as well. Gimme a break. Who cares what they write!! Maybe you should go to school and get a degree in journalism and you can write what ever the hell you want.

I don't know about you but I have read in the news way too many stories about head cases, arrests, and Fulmer cups to last me a lifetime.

I understand that and i feel exactly the same. But what do you know about these kids that makes you feel that way towards them? other than they are taking their time to make a decision about the rest of their life?

It wasn't last week that they learned that they had a chance to play college ball. They both have had offers since they were juniors. That is plenty of time and I hate indecision. It's a horrible character flaw.

Brown has handlers... What, handlers?... Visions of Don King pop in my head. I guess that this handler will just go quietly into the night after Brown signs... not! And Oku changed highschool just before graduation because he wanted a change in scenery... what? Without more, I have to believe that he is a flake. I get a bad vibe from these two and I hope they go elsewhere. Running back is not a pressing need!

But I would settle for a head case OL right about now. Ha.

Nice double-standard.
