I am in need of strength right now.

As of Friday, the 15th, my TV station is closing down. Tomorrow morning I'll get the outline of my severance package and my options at other stations in the company.

I actually have a good set of options. I know for a fact that our big time General Manager from Phoenix (who likes me) worked with the Sales Manager at the Knoxville station in Austin for many years. From what I've been told, he's had multiple conversations with the Sales Manager in Knoxville about me and moving there now that we've closed.

Apparently, and I'll find this out tomorrow, I'll be flying to Knoxville BEFORE my vacation during the Florida week, to interview. I have high confidence that I'll get the job.

Please pray for my strength in what will certainly be a stressful time, and probably a financially tricky period. Also, if you own a business in Knoxville, get ready to meet with me. :)

Good luck, VIA. If this is what it takes to get you back to Knoxville, it can't be too bad of a thing :). I hope it works out.

I've never dealt with change very well, and I have a feeling this entire process is going to happen very fast.

Leaving my roommate/ex-girlfriend/best friend and our dog is going to be insanely difficult, but in the end, it will be the best thing.

I just try to keep sane and stay strong. If you KNOW any business owners in Knoxville, you might have to hook me up. The hardest part of advertising consultation is the first 6 months. I can bring solutions to some business owners if they let me talk to them for a few.

I would wish you best of luck, but it seems pretty clear that you're the kind of guy who makes his own luck; you won't need it.

Besides, this gets you one step closer to that decent sports bar that Knoxville still desperately needs.

I appreciate the comments, and vercing, thank you.

I will admit I'm a bit shellshocked and also scared of the uncertainty.

best of luck VIA and I will definitely add you to my prayers. If you want you can add me to yours in that I find a job in my field I can actually make a living off of.

VIA,

A couple of sayings that help me are:

If you can control the situation, why worry; and if you cannot control the situation, why worry.

Or

Crisis = Danger + Opportunity
(Most people get so overwhelmed by the Danger that they miss seeing the Opportunity.)

Good luck and you will be in my prayers

I like you hate change. However, I was laid off 19 years ago with 3 young kids. It caught me completely off guard. I just bought a new car, etc. However, in hindsight it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I never liked the company I was working for at the time, and I got picked up by another company that has allowed me to see the world.

Good luck, but it is probably opportunity knocking.....

Sorry to hear the news VIA. Best of luck with the Knoxville market. I must admit that VIK sounds better anyway!

so now you can go out any night you want, get completely drunk, and sleep off your hangover instead of having to go to work.

Sorry to be vague, but things got interesting ...

I definitely have a laundry list of recommendations, but I still have to earn it (wouldn't have it any other way).

Good luck. Stay positive either way. Something will work out with you having a degree and all.
